GENE TRAITOR
My guitarist dropped his stupid-rear end boomer flames Kramer off for me to work on and I have decided that I have no use for an FR trem and also still definitely dislike the Duncan JB as stock.

BUT!

Turns out I do really like the JB wired in parallel rather than series. Tres sparkly and clean at about half the output of stock. He's mostly a clean player so I reversed the s/p switch to be parallel down and series pull and now he's happier.

I have pointed out literally any other guitar would probably suit him more, but he says he likes having a bit of trem. I feel like the FR is overkill and he just wants a Bigsby on his telecaster, but I'm not being paid for opinions.

Stupidly gaudy guitar though.

Third time is a charm right?
I find it really difficult to try learning via youtube, I end up watching tom bukovac instead just play along and talk about gear/memories in the music biz. Usually I just try to learn something specific that I want to play. I might try to do lessons at some point but the thought of regimented practice time during the week just doesn't seem like its in my wheelhouse right now.

It seems like every guitar youtuber I've seen will have hundreds of videos on breaking down songs and scale structures and chord progression and whatnot, and then they'll put out a song that is the most generic boilerplate dad rock or metal I've ever heard in my life.

I've been struggling with a good amount of hand and wrist pain after long playing/recording sessions to the point where I lose my grip and can't even hold my pick or really close my hand for a few hours afterwards.

I got so frustrated last week I was almost in tears because I was thinking I really hosed something up and was not going to be able to play anymore if it continued but ... thankfully one of my guitar playing buddies is an ortho surgeon and his wife is an OT hand specialist and they gave me some stretching exercises and advice on how to recover more quickly and it seems to be working.

Forcing yourself not to pick up the guitar an play when your hand is messed up from overplaying is a terrible feeling. I destroyed my pinky to the point where I lost some strength in it and got a little bit of trigger finger from a single day of overplaying an awkward chord change in a song (I think I know why I haven't seen that artist play that song live anymore) a while back and I couldn't use it right for a year. Now my thumb is getting blown out from too much Travis picking to the point where I might just have to switch to pick playing for a while and it sucks a lot. Hands are garbage.
