Back when I was doing desktop deployments, it did always bug me that new folks got new awesome gear while folks who have been there for ages had old gear, but gently caress, if your gear isn't good enough go to your boss and have them request new gear from IT.

Got dragged into a call while I was cooking dinner a little after 5. Being end of month and all, nobody being able to log into the accounting invoice software is kind of a big deal. Turns out one of my infosec teammates was loving around in zscaler internet access and decided to block every IE version below 11, without any thought, change request, anything. Guess what this accounting software uses still, somehow? There’s a god drat IE6 user agent string in the log events for the denies.

I dunno, I view it as a bit more like moving stuff around the shelves/freezers in a supermarket. It's a dick move, it makes someone's life more difficult and it might result in stuff getting damaged but unless you try to take the stuff out of the building without paying it's not theft. I am glad that the dickheads responsible are going to get SOME sort of comeuppance, although I assume that the power tripping managers will receive no consequences Xerol posted:Panic, obviously. Several years ago I returned from a week long holiday to discover that the ergonomic mouse I had brought from home had been replaced with a generic Dell number that was encrusted with orange filth and didn't register left clicks. Apparently someone's mouse broke and rather than go through the proper channels when I wasn't here to replace it just took mine instead.

Generally my office is good at not touching people's poo poo. But one day not that long ago I got back from vacation to find my headset was moved to another desk. Like, come on, of all things, that's gross. I wrapped it up with all the wires for my personal keyboard and mouse so it had to be 100% intentional since there was no mistaking that the owner of the headset was the same owner of the other stuff. I started bringing it home and just leaving the headset in my car.

It happened. I've finally become that which I hated. One of my project managers came to me looking for where she fit in the timeline for a remodel my department is overseeing. Her focus is entirely on A/V, which this particular project involves none of until 2025. Seeing as how she doesn't need to be involved since it doesn't involve her, I said it. I said it without thinking. "That's none of your concern". The urge to run a media empire on a consumer Buffalo NAS will be next. How long do I have? The latest: the monitor has returned! It was magically under the desk this AM. I'm guessing someone figured out they couldn't suddenly be using it and also probably couldn't sneak it out. FAKEEDIT: ".... uh... does it look to anyone else like it was dropped on that corner?" Yeah. The screen is busted.

I like the metaness of the thread title in that as with all ticket subjects, it's incorrect since the keyboard was found ON the urinal. To be clear, I'm saying leave it as is, it's far better this way.
