Meltzer mentioned earlier in the week that Riddle's name had originally been on the list for New Japan Cut he had seen, and he wasn't sure why he had been taken off. Wonder if there's any correlation here. Speaking of Dave, he went full Frank Castle on the ratings for Fridays show in todays WON. Not one but two Negative star ratings (the yano/honma tag plus sho v despy), a 1 star match (the house of torture tag), a 2 star match (Evil vs Shooter), handed out a mere 2.5 asterisks for Zack vs Nagata while crowning Riddle vs Tana 2.75. Last time I remember him getting dark with new japan ratings was a Taichi vs Goto match in 2018 that was basically a House of Torture spectacle before House of Torture existed. But that was only one match on the card, this is almost WCW poo poo. For funsies I looked at the rating for Taichi vs Naito from New Beginning 2019, which is where my mind goes right away when I think of egregiously bad pre-HoT matches, and Dave gave it ***3/4 On that same card BUSHI had the highest rated match which is pretty funny
