This is the last I'm gonna say on this topic since it's pushing my mental health, but I was 100% on the "I'll grit my teeth and vote for Biden" train up until the last few months with the Gaza situation. Up until last October, the only candidate I would absolutely not vote for in 2024 would have been Sinema (even though she's probably not running again, thank god), and I'm under no ill-illusion that it's likely that Ruben Gallego, if he wins, might end up just becoming Sinema 2.0, but I hope not! But all the support for Israel's war on Gaza, when the US could have just stood aside, I just can't support him now. And that's just me. I'm not here to judge anyone who does, but if they judge me, I'll judge them back.

After watching both Shogun episodes other day got the wife to watch the first ep tonight and she’s totally into it. Show rocks, fish out of water/exposition. Last Samurai is also my favorite Tom Cruise movie and I can see how it borrowed a lot from the book Shogun was based on.

I want to re-iterate two points with regards to the politics chat, and not just in the last page or so:
The forums on SA for in-depth political debate are...not Sports Argument Stadium and TFF. Blanket "no politics chat" won't work, because we are in a time where it's hard to ignore what's going on and we also are in an era where fewer people are inclined to ignore what's going on. I get that. And there's a tight-knit crew here. I get that, I hope I'm included in that. But we need to remember that 99% of the people here are working in the same direction. So let's take a breath and relax. It's still only March of an election year in the U.S., anyway. It should make whoever bought me this avatar happy that I’m living up to it today and smoking a butt. My dad is staying with us and he and I have never had a good relationship. He was a lovely dad growing up and was never around/actively neglected or ignored me. Now that I’m 40 he wants to have a relationship because it’s “easy”. Which, whatever man. I needed you when I was a kid. I don’t need you now. But I’m letting him stay with us because my sister is pregnant (I’m gonna be an uncle!!) and this weekend is her reveal party thing. She even got my gf involved by having her be the one that knows if it’s a boy or girl so she could order the proper smoke thing (talked her out of doing streamers/poppers for the mess they make). So anyway yeah, having some friends over and smoking a butt to distract from my dad being around, but should be a happy weekend all around either way. Yall wanna see my butt?

I’ll do garlic powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and maybe some smoked paprika. Just cover it liberally and toss it in until it hits 165, then I’ll wrap it and skip the stall. At 235 it’ll still take forever to reach 203. E: then I shred it with the bone!

I use this stuff and it works great https://buttrub.com/ I cover mine in yellow mustard and then put that all over it, adding more as the smoke goes on. I have mine sit out until it’s room temp then put it in at 240 until it gets to 205 if I want pulled pork, 165 if I wanna slice it but I don’t really ever do that. Every hour I spray it down with an apple cider vinegar and water mix that makes it have an awesome crust. e: no bone in mine so I bought some of those bear claw things and pretend to be wolverine
