Read an article in a swedish magazine about led lights in cars and the average lifespan is around 15 years and a typical replacement cost is around 1500$\€. So that means the yearly cost is 150 bucks if they last that long. To me this shows that technological progress is being hijacked or enshittified by companies using it as a way to make more money of the customer. And I don't think it's only LED lights that's affected. I am 100% convinced that you could make a modern led light for a car and base it around some relatively cheap standardized led bulb that is as easy as an H4 to replace. If you wanted to. But nobody wants to.

Of course those headlights are also 'smart' which means they can charge the earth for whatever garbage they load into them (they don't loving work either which makes it worse). Sounds like Officer Brain Genius is misreading/mistyping your plates. Maybe call up the local cop shop and suggest they all get eye exams.

I saw a hummer last night. It wasn't that big compared to some SUVs and trucks I see. I remember when the Hummer was talked about when it was new because of how big and wasteful it was.

Off the top of my head, I suspect convenience store/liquor store clerk are also higher. Along with Firemen, many of which also have pretty enormous egos but I'd say less than most cops.

That's a good question. I would have assumed it meant oilfield but those crane operators, and heavy lifting trades in general have the potential to be very dangerous. In my small city alone I know of 2 fatalities in the last couple years.

I'm surprised even that the main cause of cop death is violence as opposed to vehicle accident, I recall that coming up in the past as a big one, killing more than violence. I wonder with logging, obviously getting crushed by a tree aint good, but if the fact that so much logging goes on in remote locations means incidents that might be survivable in the city aren't in logging because of the delay in getting medical care.

Oh I’d bet the saws and crushing is still big for reasoning. They also drive like they know they’re gonna die in the woods, so there’s also that.

I'm pretty much a lumberjack in the bathroom. Every time I take a dump I'm dropping logs all in that.

It says ‘violence from people’ so I assumed that was people who declined repairs and then came back when something broke.

After 45 years, I have finally made my way to Australian Motorsport Holy Ground: You know you are racing against people who are not from Australia in Forza as they always brake for the entry to the Chase I did two laps of the track, one of them in reverse direction. Sadly it was closed This track is insane. From the Skyline down to Forrest Elbow it is insane that people race down this at speed and not bounce off the concrete walls. Also crazy how many houses there are on this track, it must be a pain trying to go anywhere when either the 12 hour or 1000 is on Some cars from the motorsport museum attached with the track

Surprisingly not that much of a problem - I've stayed with friends just before The Cutting and there is a network of paths / dirt roads the public isnt allowed to access around the back of the properties. You have resident passes / car stickers so you dont get held up getting in or out. The event organisers try to not piss the residents off, some of whom have been there decades and I think a couple of families even owned their property before the track was a thing (Of course the residents arent the orginal generation but they have lived there their entire lives)
