I visited an office once where they had Aerons in the conference room and that… just isn’t the right use case for those chairs at all

Instead you get cool casters that brake when there's no weight on the seat, and release when you sit down. I got some ikea chair that I don't remember the name of that looks really similar and was like 300 bucks. It was a pretty great investment

How is aeron still a thing 25 years after they were ridiculed as overpriced by at least $2000 and contributing directly to the dot-com bomb

I got one of these at a thrift store for like $25 and it loving rules. I absolutely cannot fathom spending four figures on a chair.

If an expensive chair lasts 10-20 years and is comfortable the whole time is it worse than a $150 chair that is comfortable for 3 months and completely falls apart within 2 years? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory

People think its dumb to spend like $600 on a good set of work boots and insoles but it is by far the best tool I’ve ever purchased.

The fun thing is Funnelweb spider venom is only deadly to two things, their insect prey, and primates, which didn't even exist in Australia until humans showed up. They were really planning ahead.

I don't know why every programmer I work with doesn't have an ergodic. I went to an actual office retailer, they have a showroom, and checked out a bunch of their chairs. Ended up with one like an Aeron for a quarter of the price. It has the synchro tilt which is great and really good support.

Yeah we spent way too much on our bed but three years later we still say at least once a week how much we love our bed.

I've been using the same generic office chair for over a decade now. I never really gave it much thought. Of course, at 33 I'm practically a babby by goon standards, so I assume my body will soon start succumbing to the ravages of time as well.

Would it be better or worse if literature was open source with version control? Anyone could pull a book and start their own branch of it, which might get popular if it's better than the original. Or commits to the original source material could be judged by the people in charge of that project.
