You do not need the item, you need to complete the achievement to buy the arcanum which is then used as the precursor in lieu of ascended armor like WvW, sPvP and raids e: SotO is like, THE expansion of exceptions. For some loving reason. Like for instance you don't get a gift from completing Inner nayos, you need to do the lanterns. Unlike literally every ohter loving achievement gift (PoF, HoT, EoD and even the first 2 maps of this loving expac!!). You are automatically thrown into lanterns, which is what you'd do for repeats. I don't know how and why they hosed everything up this expansion, like weapon mastery unlocking on chapter fuckin 14 of the story. You know, an expansion-selling feature. It's also weird as poo poo because you actually craft with crafting disciplines instead of the mystic forge, but also parts of it are still the mystic forge. But also Lyhr can do it, but he charges 10 ectos if I guess the mystic forge is too far to walk to??? Which is actually lovely and feels like Anet did that as a trap to get ectos out of the economy in a really underhanded way.

Just a reminder for anyone working on legendary anything: park alts at the essence chests in Bjora. Fast Farming has three locations, you can open the chests in all of them in probably 5 minutes if you have three alts for it. You get around 200 eternal ice a day, and then can turn that into the S4 currency and consume for magic to buy trophy shipments. Those are heavily weighed for T5, but you can always convert 5 to 6. No help for T3 and T4, but you can always sell extra T5/T6 to help.

I'm reluctant to recruit too hard for this because it's a big time commitment (and we're all adults these days), not everyone has the patience for it/enjoys it, or necessarily likes teaching. But if that's something our experienced raiders are open to, I'd love to give it a shot.

Laurels are a great way to get T3/T4 materials. The HoT daily currency converter you get for chievos in those maps also has T3/T4 mats mixed in its options. ----- Also, Ranger mace is nuts. It's like they took all the Guardian and Warrior mace skills, added them together and threw in free vigor on the autoattack. Important nevermore fact. If you're a Harbinger specialisation and go into Harbinger shroud with nevermore as your current primary, you throw spirit Ravens at your enemies in rapid succession.

In the achievement section of the hero panel, you can filter the achievements to only ones that award mastery points. All of the mastery points are listed somewhere in there. Generally, the map points are the easiest, playing the story usually gives out about one per chapter, and then there are a lot behind various activities, events, and collections.

Melees actually use the weapon and it looks amazing when they do. Also while most melee abilities dont have projectiles, you release spirit ravens on hit for a lot of the melee abilities.
