This final fort condor battle is some bullshit.

Killed the boss but it was right after hitting zero on the time limit. What a lame mini game. Not even fun.

Yeah agreed the last one is serious bullshit. I was about 2% away from killing the boss with 10 seconds to go and then he out of the blue casts some bullshit time stop spell so all my guys just sat there doing nothing until the clock ran out. I had to take a break after that cause I was so pissed. When I come back to it I will probably just turn the game to easy (from dynamic) just to clear it since it’s not even fun at this point.

She, laughing in mockery, changed herself into a wren and flew away.
Just got through the Mithril Mines (we've been moving house, unpacking takes a while!) I have to say I think this section was the first solid miss for me. I just didn't love it and it dragged a bit! I kinda like the whole "something that was four screens is now a whole chapter" schtick of the Re: series but only when it adds interest, and if I'm entirely honest nothing here did for me really.

Junon looks fun though I'm not sure why the game keeps making me do anything other than play Queen's Blood? I need to play more Queens' Blood. I really hope they put this in FF14 TBH, it's a very solid game they have here.

I stopped playing queens blood in Junon because half the opponents had stupid OP decks that I couldn’t find a counter for but I kept buying new cards anyway and then the game made me play a couple of games so I built a new deck with my new cards and I’m just crushing people left and right and all I wanna do is get far enough to easily travel back to Junon and ruin those idiots

This is carrying me far more than the main story at this point

Welp just learned the hard way that the checkpoints are garbage in the open world.

I'm in the junon area, did all of the first activities and then headed over to start the second ones.

I get to the enemy Intel one and don't manage to get all 3 actions in the first go.

So I restart the fight and try again.

Half way through, one of the enemies does the move in supposed to stop so I hit pause and notice a retry battle and retry from checkpoint option.

I figure the checkpoint option might be mid battle after I killed the first of the two enemies but nope, the checkpoint is actually after you exit the mythril cave.

So essentially wiping out all of my loving Junon world map progress.

So about that, uh, ost. Where can I get that digitally? Not interested in the cd set at all, don't even own a player anymore

Don’t think it’s out digitally yet. Looks like it comes out for sale physically on April 10. So it should be up on iTunes and other means that day as well.

It won’t hit streaming for probably another year or something. The Remake soundtrack took a while to come out.

His entire sideplot in Remake was him breaking free from Shinra's control and being able to do his own thing.

Because in an open world game I'd at least expect the checkpoints to save after I've completed an open world activity.

It's kind of the standard.

Having the checkpoints be "plot only" in a game that's not plot only is loving stupid.

They didnt even have all the ever crisis chapters out in english for Glenn, so them being like he helped organise the wutai rebels forces and rufus shot and killed hom has me confused when the EC story so far is they setup a reactor on an island and baby sephiroth is there.

What are they doing for an official soundtrack release? I remember it took a while for Remake too.

I heard there was a disc version scheduled, but that there's so many tracks in the game that even that was going to be curated.

I just want to listen to the tunes, man.

Square usually does the premium physical thing first then releases the whole thing digitally soon after. It's always a year or two before they hit streaming platforms.

After you finish the last one there is an optional hard mode to carry on with but lol I’m not touching that

I beat all the main ones in one attempt and that was still enough fort condor for me

I love the game but I think they added a bazillion minigames to pad the game out because it has to be at minimum 40 hours to be worth it as a JRPG.

It’s fine but it’s the same issue I had with Remake and I still loved that game.

My only major issue with mini games was one of the del sol ones where you couldn't get the top prize until you finished its related quest that had you play it anyway.

I can wind up pretty nettled with the combat in regards to certain enemy types and the occasional boss so having a bunch of side content like the card game to wind down with is nice, but a lot of them are surprisingly indepth and would be kind of an exhausting commitment to learn for a whats supposed to be a quick minigame. Looking at you, back half of the piano songs.

I guess I wind up getting nettled with the minigames and need to wind down with the combat then...

I think there are a lot of minigames because the original FF7 has a bunch of minigames and the design philosophy for Rebirth appears to be "take everything that was in the original and turn it up to 11"

I managed all the other minigames I've encountered so far well enough, but the half-press trigger on this one is absolute bullshit - I can land that maybe 30% of the time, no way I'm ever doing it 5+ times in one go like the last stage wants me to :argh:

This really should have a difficulty setting for minigames, as is a lot of them are way overtuned.

No, she's from a novella called Final Fantasy VII The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story. Leslie, the gray-haired guy who helped out in Wall Market in Remake, is also from that novella.

I appreciate just how deep they go with the number of music tracks there are. Salmon gets a banger that only plays during his escort mission, when you beat Neil at QB he pulls out his guitar and has an entire extended jam, and even Kyrie gets her own theme song with multiple variations. I'm still waiting on a Ghoul phase 2 moment but I haven't finished the Junon area yet. The game just keeps flipping my completionist trigger.

It was very funny that in the demo, the "interrupt Soothing Wind" field report fight was obnoxious because you had to really go apeshit to pressure them (and even worse if they both started at the same time), but in the main game it just takes one Blizzard spell.

I'm liking QB more than I thought I would, though at this point my decks are still a bit limited (could use more cheap cards that attack diagonally forward) and opponents are getting smarter about not taking bait. Or doing the FF14 Triple Triad thing where you almost have them beat and then they have the exact card they need to completely reverse the game at the finish line
