I was whining about this in the GDT but it is maddening that I can't watch Giants spring training games. NBC Bay Area or w/e is broadcasting a grand total of FOUR games this spring: https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/jenkins/article/want-watch-giants-spring-training-broadcast-good-18698339.php. The last time they were on TV at all was the Angels broadcast a week ago

you’re supposed to watch Dodgers games instead and get angry at Ohtani so you can call in to KNBR

It’s fine. We can sign Madison bumgarner to fill his spot in the rotation. This is fine.

Angel Martinez seems to be doing good in spring. Kind of hoping him and Juan Brito both get a major league call-up because it seems like they might actually have some power the Guards desperately need.

In inter-forum news, if any of you are interested, Something Awful Wrestling has opened up Season 2 signups!. A bunch of other SAS goons are already hanging out, including some NHL thread regulars, and WWE's character creator is robust so if your avatar is of your favorite Cub (or other MLB player but let's be fair this thread is predominantly cubsposting by volume) feel free to drop in and rep SAS and beat up other goons!

God I’m so irritated about this gray injury. What a stupidly constructed rotation. At least last year I was invested up to the trade deadline, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marmol doesn’t make it through may with what they’ve given him in the rotation. I hate people who just relentlessly doompost about their teams, I strive not to do it with my favorite teams in other sports but it’s so frustrating to watch this organization cheap out like they have

After a terrible Titans season and a wildly uneven suns season it says a lot that I’m way more convinced of those organizations competency than the historical juggernaut cardinals. Hope that once the games actually count they prove me wrong but this season looks like a disaster in the making

Darryl Strawberry is speaking at a banquet in a few weeks and I randomly remembered an ESPN commercial. Maybe an early This is SportsCenter ad or something similar. It was MLB and/or sports "songs" and it was a crooner version of the Darrrryllll chant. Instead of drawn out like you'd hear in stadiums, this was Da-ryl, Da-ryl if Dean Martin was singing it.

Anyone remember this one?

One of my core baseball memories is watching Lawrie in some nothing game late in the season (which could have been any time after May for the early 2010s Jays) run full tilt into foul territory to catch a ball, and then crashing over the railing. My memory is that it was a little bit of a drop, too. Unfortunately, I cannot find this on YouTube.

Wish that hustle could have been turned into him becoming a good player.
