I'm trying to clear Repair missions. Only one at the moment was Heresy Maelstrom, barrels, bursters, mutants, blitz. edit: and hunting grounds.

One pubbie joins me. He almost immediately dies and quits.

I solo the whole thing with three bots, who are immensely better than this 30+55 special edition rando.

Incendiary grenades with enhanced blitz are wonderful against Hunting Grounds. Even better when you don't feel obligated to waste them to save a human who waded in too deep to the ragers.

Depending on the job you either do Light > Heavy > Repeat or Heavy > Light > Repeat. Been a while since I played Zealot much so can't tell ya which is horde control and which is single target. You use your special attack to knock aside bulwark shields and stagger crushers/maulers, or as part of the single target combo to kill something faster. The push attack can be woven in to either manage a horde or angle it to bonk a single target in the head for some insane weakspot damage.

Only things it struggles against are monsters, which don't really care about the stagger and the damage isn't as good. It has a really nice flow for a weapon when it clicks though

unless the enemy you're hitting has the healthpool to require a special attack, it's a waste since the AOE on it got nerfed significantly and slows down your attack pattern quite a bit. Most chaff dies to regular weakspot hits anyway, and regular attacks are better for crowd control overall.

Crusher special with Zealot charge is a nice healthy 2000 damage on a carapace target so with double charge you can take out a VIP good

It's a really funny stick with both blessings on Impact stacking even though 1 on the damage stacks on stagger 1 on impact is a better generalist build

One useful crusher trick: activating the special slows your movement a ton, but you can avoid this by doing it during a slide with the right timing. Similar to quelling and other stuff that slows you.

I love slide for all that goofy poo poo. Slide to charge your weapon. Slide to prepare a heavy swing. Slide to switch weapons without slowing to a walk. Darktide has very silly movement tech and it's very fun.

The crusher has a healthy finesse modifier on its push attack. I use with a crit build and push attack > heavy > light which all have a horizontal swing with the light being a little diagnol. +3 stamina curio and stam regen on all 3 means it can push forever. Huge damage, huge defense.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Or like 5k diamantine to forever lock out a certain blessing from appearing on future weapon consecrations.

I think it would work better on a weapon by weapon basis rather than remove it from all future pools. Like you pay a high diamantine fee to get a guaranteed blessing or perk of your choice.

I've been toying around with Marksman's Focus and while I don't think it's very good (and none of the veteran keystones are tbh) I find it funny that it actually works better with automatic weapons. You just put your crosshairs at eye level and you can immediately hit 10-15 stacks from headshots. If you put the rending bonus at 10 stacks on it chews through hordes even faster. If I put the centerline talent that gives another 10% rending to all attacks would that stack?

Captainicus
Feb 22, 2013

I definitely agree on marksman's focus working best on automatic weapons, I don't want to build my slow-firing gun to not headshot skill dregs until I get 10 stacks after a handful of shots, I just want it to kill on headshots. Automatic guns can actually reduce their bullets to kill by stacking it up and its easy to build and maintain by spraying at head height. I just go with improved target marking + toughness refill if I want to go for a slow-firing precise weapon build, that way the team gets better DPS on crushers and monstrosities and a nice toughness trickle from small specials.

Veteran keystones are “do you really like tagging things?”, “will you be shooting things close up?”, or “shooting things far away”.

I know the melee weapons buffing ranged and vice versa keystone is probably pretty good, but if feels the least sexy compared to just melting people.

The veteran tree is so drat strong that I question whether you even need one of the keystones for some weapon combinations.

If you're a melee vet running a backup weapon with a long reload high damage weapon like plasma or revolver its the best choice. Since melee vet is so good in general I use it more than the other two keystones even if I don't go for the reload talent.

Yeah, for anyone who hasn't tried that keystone yet, it's good for high damage weapons. I basically don't need to reload, ever, because I'm engaging most enemies with melee and only using plasma for maulers/crushers/monstrosities, and that keeps my ammo topped off. Then when I need to take a shot, it does fantastic damage because of all the stacks to the ranged buff.

Quite a few of my builds don't. You can kind of "mark your own keystone" by grabbing talents that aid other players, like the heal corruption with medpacks/revival assist/toughness regen assist.

Evil Kit

I typically involve a keystone in all my vet builds because both Focus Target and Weapon Spec are both well worth the points.

My shouty plasma build also takes both Field Improvisation and the Revive+ Assist talent, you can do keystones and those. A lot of the damage talents are overrated.

if you aren't blasting every single specialist or gunner that dares breath in the same LoS as you are you really even playing plasma? I do personally prefer Focus with plasma for sustaining the bonuses on teammates, Weapon Spec feels better with a more mobile weapon to me. I'll need to try it more with Plasma at some point I guess.

just upgrade them to orange. Doing so means the other blessing you rolled won't show up, and the orange upgrade has a higher chance to b t4.

But also yeah, you get unlucky streaks sometimes. Since it's a stave make sure you're only rolling the specific type you want warp nexus on, psyker staves don't overlap blessings with each other.

as long as you're not just slamming upgrade on every single weapon that catches your interest once you start doing 5s regularly you'll start building a healthy crafting mat stash.

Even before that though, and before Fatshark buffed crafting mat drops on higher difficulties, I still upgraded to orange after trying just to blue for some weapons. My experiences with the former were just so much better anecdotally that I never went back.

Protip: if you're just blessing hunting make sure you only upgrade 310 rating or less whites, it's significantly cheaper over the long run.

Is Gloryhunter completely hot garbage? I have a very nice plasma gun that I'm thinking about swapping shattering impact I out for Gloryhunter IV. Whenever I get lucky and get a shattering impact IV I will change it again.

E: I also have Volatile IV. The other blessing is Gets Hot IV.

I'll do orange for my next few. That's interesting you say that last part though, reddit seems to be full of people convinced that higher base weapon ratings mean higher odds of higher tier blessings as you upgrade. Nobody really knows, but lots of people are convinced. Is that a thing?

Even though Volatile is no longer literally ruining plasma guns, I prefer Gloryhunter the most as a second blessing after Gets Hot! It boosts Confirmed Kill back up to its pre-nerf status and getting a large chunk of toughness back up front is very good when you're dealing with a large amount of gunners or getting back chip damage from melee attackers while dealing with your targets. Not liking Volatile is personal preference entirely, it throws off my muscle memory entirely and you want to ride high heat for Gets Hot! anyway. Shattering Impact on plasma is more of a team buff than for yourself, and doesn't actually meaningfully change breakpoints for you personally.

And no, reddit is full of poo poo and people parroting things they heard instead of actually trying it themselves. Not because of this particular instance, just in general. Through anecdotal testing myself, it's practically the same odds past 300 power except that the closer to 300 you are the cheaper it is upgrade. It might just even out if stat rating actually matters, but I highly doubt it. Feel free to do your own testing of course, you're allowed to make up your own mind.

Arc Hammer posted:

Already typed out my feelings but I disagree heavily now after Confirmed Kill's nerf. The difference after the nerf to survivability was very noticeable as someone who plays a fuckload of plasma vet.

I think it's situation dependent, sometimes you really gotta kill that one crusher or line of maulers really fast. It also has a strong niche vs monsters still, the damage really spikes on a crit charged shot vs a weak point. Most of the time though normal shots are just better imo.
