The nuclear division is it's own separate thing, they're pretty aggressively walled off from the rest of the company both politically and getting a site pass is, not impossible, but drat hard

i've no reason to think they're incompetent, same as i have no reason to think pg&e's linemen and gas...men? are. the linemen cutting work early for some beers with the boys didnt burn down paradise, their hours being cut by leadership did

I don't understand how you can have Schiff vs Garvey for two senate seats. What happens when Schiff wins both? Either way, boring matchup. I split on Lee and Porter. vvvv that makes sense. I also suspect the Schiff win is just an issue with poor turnout of as low as 20%. The people that would vote for Lee or Porter didn't show up. There's also no Bernie to excite people to vote. There's also no Bernie to excite people to vote. They are still counting ballots. The official count has gone from 21% when that NPR article was published yesterday up to 26% today. The state's current estimate is that about 1/3 of ballots are still uncounted. The final count certainly looks likely to be in line with historical averages.

https://www.npr.org/2024/03/21/1239811952/california-proposition-1-homeless "Newsom, who made the measure a signature proposal, spent significant time and money campaigning on its behalf. He raised more than $13 million to promote it with the support of law enforcement, first responders, hospitals and mayors of major cities. Opponents raised just $1,000." Pretty rough there, it passed by 29,000 votes out of seven million. Not a good sign for his personal influence and popularity. Now the question is if Prop 1 is well enough designed to work, or it ends up like, say, Oregon botching their drug issue.

Firefighters are CHUDs for sure (especially leadership) and have been chudding it up all month in LA with their panties in a twist about how bus and bike lanes are a threat to our liberty: https://la.streetsblog.org/2024/02/15/firefighters-oppose-l-a-city-safe-streets-initiative-measure-hla quote:"I hate to tell you men and women, California - and Los Angeles in particular - this is a car community. With public servants like this, who needs enemies?

The entitlement of the hog brained American franchise owner never ceases to trigger my gag reflex, as does the attendant, fawning sympathetic coverage given them by their corporate media propagandists. https://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-franchisee-on-raising-prices-to-cover-california-minimum-wage-2024-4

Yeah you wouldn't believe the whining I'm hearing from all my bosses up the chain. The owner of the company called a meeting to tell us all about how people voted for this because they don't understand economics, plus all the usual talking points about teacher pay and prices of goods. Meanwhile we're getting steady business even on slow days, and while that could be bc it's the first of the month, I expect to see it get markedly more busy as customers have more money now. Not that I would care if we didn't, but still.

Yeah I'm seeing those stories and laughing. Not a single word of against the Franchises, who threw the Franchisees under the bus and agreed to back $20 minimum wage to avoid a bill to make them responsible for Franchisee labor violations Instead it's just more yelling at clouds. The franchisee needs to only point the finger at their corporate masters if they don't like the new minimum wage.
