What am I missing? Because that's not funny the way I read it.

Edit: to be clear, the way I read it is that a lost pregnancy that from the comic seems to be a devastating thing is the punchline. You know, because "Shar" and all and edgy.

I hope I have it wrong and I'll apologize when someone points out the actual joke to me. Turns out I can be triggered at 55.

The "joke" is that the comic was ill received even at the time but spread through the internet zeitgeist like a gross mold that persists even to this day. In particular, its the pattern recognition of that sequence mapping onto a 20 year old comic that activates the neurons of the truly internet poisoned. "Loss" is the punchline of the joke, as it was the name of the comic. The actual context of the comic these days is immaterial to its meme. (most of the time)

It's one of those shitpost memes like Piccolo Dick or the One Piece porn edits where the joke is referencing something cursed in increasingly obfuscated ways.

The Loss meme is basically the "you lost the game" meme from 300 years ago now, its nothing to do with the original comic anymore really.

Orin's fight is like a lot of encounters in this game where there's a really challenging mechanic that forces you to change tactics and carefully consider every action OR you can just bypass all that with the instant I-WIN button, in this case Magic Missile + Hold Monster.

I did almost no “OP” theory crafting builds other than making Astarion a Monk rogue and feel the same way.

Like I had to reload and slow down killing Ansur one turn later to get the achievement.

I never knew there was a pillar mechanic in the Raphael fight.

Toughest fight was probably Cazador because it starts you down a party member and my main character a Lore Bard felt pretty anemic at level 12.

That’s my fault for choosing it but that’s probably my only complaint, that my lore bard was pretty so-so end game. No big end game murder spells, just fireball and blight.

There were a lot of fights where my bard would have had fairly useless rounds if I hadn’t had them get the “tadpole powers are a bonus action” perk and had them suck down every worm they found.

Good utility though, murdering dialogue checks and picking locks. Was nice to be able to swap out my Astarion rogue monk for other characters every now and then. Since having a lock picker/trap disarmed is a requirement in the game.

Straight Barbarian Karlach felt a little anemic too compared to fighter at 12 until I respec’d and gave her a few levels of fighter to get action surge and battle master. You just can’t beat a hasted action surging great weapon wielder as a way to delete a boss first round. Well other than ascended Astarion monk.

The Orin fight was pretty easy for me after the first couple turns when I was trying to knock out the Bhaal skull that kept giving her Unstoppable and accepted it wasn't going to be killable. The "sacrifices" went down super quick with AOEs and then it was just a matter of using my summoned elementals Flurry attacks to whittle down unstoppable and then let the rest of the team destroy her

That said, I'm pretty much at the end of the game with only House of Hope and Gortash left in my quest log so I had a bunch of good items heh.

If you’re Durge it’s just a duel and she doesn’t get unstoppable. My hasted bard with a summoned myrmidon handled it pretty easily.

It was just a funny time because the webcomic in question (CTRL+ALT+DEL) was a very dumb comic that focused on a gamer nerd and his experiences like a knock off Penny Arcade, and they introduced a pregancy arc but still kept it lightweight...until he took a hard turn towards serious with the miscarriage comic. Not a good enough writer to handle that story, so he was mocked pretty hard (Especially on these here forums)

On my first run I thought I was so clever for killing the cultists before initiating combat, but it turned out their deaths tick down the buff, so O started at max and I couldn't actually reduce it at all. Still got through but it was hella sloppy. I feel like I read they changed that, but I also think I misunderstood what they were actually saying

I’m at a critical point in my Honor run. End game stuff I figured, stupidly, that there would be a mindflayer recharge station right before climbing the brain stem to initiate the last battle. I’m pretty dwindled on spell slots and beat up more than I’d like. I have Gale in my party and can just let him be the big drat hero, but I really really want to fight that fight.

Party is Durge Life Cleric 10/DevoPal 2, Minsc ThrowBarb 12, Minthara Sword Barb 12, Gale EvoWiz 12, and Mindflayer Orpheus. Should I take the easy W or should I, well, honor Honor Mode?

Do you not have potions of angelic reprieve/slumber or a big stock of spell scrolls to burn through?

I'm afraid so.
Do they remove the recharge station there on honor mode? There was one there on normal difficulty.

The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes, look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.

Its reprieve. I finally beat this game yesterday and have some thoughts but I just loaded up to confirm something. Like WHY DOES THE ASTRAL PRISM SEQUENCE ALSO TAKE AWAY MY GODDAM PORTENT ROLLS.

Yeah overall that's my biggest gripe with the game. There's all these cool builds to experiment with but there's no repeatable content. I'd be fine with an arena type thing even if there weren't any actual rewards, or only cosmetic ones.

the thing that made bg3 a hit wasn't the combat engine, it's all about the characters, and Icewind Dale isn't that

Icewind Dale 2 was like, THE game of my childhood so I’d be ecstatic, but yeah, assuming they kept the whole “no premade characters, roll your entire party from scratch” of the first two games it would not be Larian playing to their strengths.

Almost done with my first run and am planning on doing another run immediately after I finish to see the companion stories. Since I used Gale, Shadowheart and Astarion this time I'm thinking I'll use Wyll, Karlach and either Minthara or Lae'zel the next time. I played a Moon Druid this run, any recommendations for a Tav next time that fits with that group?

Lae'zel I always leave as a 12 Battlemaster, she's just too good. Karlach I alternate between a 5/4/3 Berserker/Champ/Thief Throwbarb or a 9/3 Open Fist Monk. Wyll I generally make a 7/5 Bardlock. Based purely on my own fantasy hero comp, you'd maybe want to roll a dedicated caster like Sorc, Cleric or Wiz for your Tav.

Tanks still suck but you don't gotta hand it to the Axis either.
Punch-drunk bastard, GWM, drunk amulet and champion 12 are a surprisingly good combo. I tried it as a gimmick Gale build but with reverberation gear and crit increase chance the 16 crit threshold plus autoadvantage makes it a bulldozer. Bonus points for having the raging drunkard running around on their underwear.

Also tipplers rage affects your ranged attacks too as long as you have punch drunk bastard as your melee slot which is hilarious.
