I don't remember a meltdown but I reckon I know what must have caused it. He got given a manager role and two young women were hired as his direct reports. He caught them faffing about on their phones (even though all the work had been done) and told them off, and moaned about it in the thread. Cue a thousand posts telling him he'd become the very thing he hated. But he wouldn't repent. He had fully embraced the dark side. It's a sad story really. He's probably a landlord small business owner now.

There's plenty of studies that say that it doesn't work. Reinhardt and Rogoff famously accidentally published that it doesn't work when they published a paper saying it does work with a programming error in, that reversed the conclusion when corrected. It doesn't matter they came up with a new casus belli. The facts don't matter to them at all.
