trilobite terror posted:lol if these guys are impossible for you then Donut Media must be like actual torture Thanks, that's about what I would expect. I have a 2019 Model 3, and while it's not as clapped out as the one they tested, it does have more interior noise that I would like, and some things just aren't put together very well. I still like it, but I would really like a R2 or R3 at some point. I've never heard of Donut media, and it sounds like I should remain ignorant.

I absolutely loved my i3, the only reason I got rid of it was my extended warranty and battery warranty were expiring and the only reason that I didn't replace it with a 2021 i3 was the used market was so insane at the time that it just made sense to order a Mach-E with the tax credit. Also, my husband thought it was too small, but he hardly ever drove the i3 or drives the Mach-E, so it was a factor, but not a huge one. It is just a delightful little car with so much utility.

I first learned of Donut when I was playing Forza Horizon (4? 5? one of em) and they came off as mildly abrasive during their cameos. After watching a couple of their actual YT videos, it wasn’t any better.

Took another drive yesterday and the Alert Driver Alertness Alert did not pop up. Dunno what that was all about. One thing I really don't like about the 6 is there's no padding at all on the windowsill -- just hard plastic that's hard to rest your arm on. Honestly thinking about getting some sort of padded sleeve for longer drives cuz drat.

Tayter Swift posted:Took another drive yesterday and the Alert Driver Alertness Alert did not pop up. Dunno what that was all about. As near as I can tell, this pops up when you're in active lane keeping mode (not the default one, but when you press the little "steering wheel" button on the wheel) or Highway Driving Assist. The car wants input from the wheel every so often or it'll pop up a "pay attention" graphic on the dashboard. If it doesn't sense any input after another couple of seconds, it will sound the tone and complain at you to pay attention. Eventually it will turn all of the assists off (this is absolutely Hyundai's way to keep from getting sued if someone turns on HDA, takes a nap, and plows into a crowd of toddlers). It's kind of dumb because I'm paying attention 100% of the time it's on, but it doesn't usually need my input to stay on course. So I find myself occasionally twitching the wheel slightly just to keep it from complaining at me. Very silly. quote:One thing I really don't like about the 6 is there's no padding at all on the windowsill -- just hard plastic that's hard to rest your arm on. I don't like having the window and lock buttons on the center console, and I have no idea why they didn't at least pad the armrest.

I would also be remiss if I passed over the opportunity to laugh at the Cyber Truck, which cannot use Tesla's CCS1 adapter because of the idiotic way it's designed. I wonder what the general consensus is about the Cyber Truck over in Tesla's engineering departments. I kind of suspect they hate it as much as we do.

Munro made an hour-long video, proverbially sucking off Elon Musk after his introduction to the Cybertruck at the advanced press event. It was a whole lot of ooh and ahhs about revolutionary technology that's changing the future. It was absolutely disgusting and I just fast-forwarded through it. I've never seen blatant fanboyism on his channel, so that was exceptionally disturbing.

Munro’s an idiot who literally believes that tech & trade jobs went away and companies outsourced all of their machine shop and tool/mold-making to China and India because “too many kids were told that they could major in English” and woke culture run amok instead of the real reason (because three generations of MBA big-brains chased short term ‘number go up’ by downsizing and outsourcing the poo poo out of everything and also the government chose rewarding shareholders over keeping wages in line with inflation for ~40 years). He acts like he invented the idea of a company buying a competitor’s product to tear down and benchmark. It’s only natural that he would spend his dotage in the court of King Elon.

# ? Mar 14, 2024 17:09 |

Yes, all of that, AND His company exists to identify ways to spend less money on car manufacturing, and Tesla is leading the way there with innovations like “keep removing parts and see when the NHTSA sues” It’s like when elong bought twitter and started literally pulling cables on random servers. See what you can get away with not having. It makes their cars utterly repulsive to me, but you better believe other auto execs got hard when they realized maybe you don’t need turn signals after all.
