I want to be clear. My objection was not to the sausages and chips, which are both perfectly legitimate components of an evening meal for British working families, provided they form part of a balanced diet. It was to the inclusion of mange tout, which are a substandard accompaniment to sausages and chips. Their crisp texture and subtle, fresh flavour are far more suited to a stir fry, or a Thai curry. Sausage and chips is nice with thick supermarket sausages and normal oven chips, maybe peas or fried mushrooms if you're doing the sausages in a pan. It doesn't give him the right to mess around with kids' medical decisions though, and him holding it up as an example of why the natural order is better than the state is pretty lol.

Sorry but the fact that you’re all reasonably okay with mange tout (thank u jc) as the accompaniment to sausage and chips worries me. Sausage and chips rules. Some peas and gravy? Bit of sweetcorn and some tomato sauce? Absolutely. Beans? Well yeah that’s the ideal. But mange tout are dry and squeaky in an already dry and potentially quite squeaky meal. Nobody has impugned sausages, chips or the combo of the two. It’s the mange tout that gently caress it up and tbh I expected better from you lot
