lol Biden being that far behind trump with people under 35 is hilarious since young voters typically prefer democrats by like +20%

actually young people don't vote so it's not a big deal they all hate biden the party throwing all of its weight behind the corpse president surely won't have any lasting repercussions on future elections

To me what's wild is just the open contempt for the people they in theory represent, be it Tik Tok users or people opposed to genocide. You'd have to have a humiliation fetish to support these people. The craziest part to me is that the more marginalized the group, the more open they are about making GBS threads on them and the more fervently that group clings to them. I think it was this thread that had the story of the Maryland state legislator telling a trans person on Twitter that no, we're not going to vote on a bill that guarantees your human rights because despite having an 80% majority in both houses and the governor's mansion we don't want to be seen actively supporting you. I think about that story often because it tells you everything you need to know about the democrats.

If someone ever says to you "its a trolley problem dumbass, just make the choice that does the least immediate harm", you are obligated to inform them that they actively have the choice right now to kill themselves or a random stranger and donate their heart, lungs, kidneys, liver to save the lives of around 7 people. People seem to really like the simplicity of the trolley problem but then forget that it's only part of a philosophical argument which criticizes act utilitarianism. v oh that's interesting, thank you for sharing Ruzihm has issued a correction as of 15:43 on Mar 14, 2024 |

The "original" trolley problem began by positing the idea of a judge framing an innocent person to assuage an angry mob, thus preventing further bloodshed. This had to give way to the trolley problem as we know it because the original scenario is too intimate and politically fraught. Liberals love the idea of pulling a switch to kill a stranger somewhere else and feeling good about it, it's called voting.

I think I'm going to give myself a mental break from thinking that I have to have a counterargument to "Arab Americans should vote for the guy killing their families because the other candidate will kill them more enthusiastically." I have enough faith in ordinary human beings to trust that this "logic" is repugnant without me meditating in the 36th chamber coming up with rhetorical counters.

the period of time when a social media app is hip and only young people are using it is going to continue to get shorter and shorter as everyone becomes connected to the internet 24/7. it's a force of nature. young people come in, make something seem cool, old people want to be cool and come in too, young people go look for something new. it's like the tides.

I really bought into anger at the "nanny state." Going to be interesting if that ends up taking root. Hopefully it'll be funny.
