I love when I'm running a long calculation that takes two days and can't be interrupted and windows decides to reboot in the middle of the night

there is no setting in windows that will fully stop it from rebooting against your will

I had to loving modify and delete files from windows so that it no longer contains the processes that allow it to initiate a reboot on its own, and then block it from being able to recreate those files

if it does it again I'm gonna lose my mind

I could maybe try and take that challenge. You'd have to reformat and reinstall.

Linux on the desktop really is the way to go for that sort of longer running work, yeah. It's definitely not without rough edges, but at this point it's not clear if they're worse than the bullshit Microsoft keeps coming up with.

Also, tax day: The IRS-equivalent has been working on everyone's tax returns, and over about a month everyone gets a notification to log in and check if their numbers look right; I got mine today. Looked fine after I found out the mystery account was the deposit for the apartment. My income tax in this communist dystopia: About 24%.

Also, about $700 in tax returns :toot:

We're trying to Exit The Cloud right now lol.

Found OS options for a few things and got office pro standalone licenses for all seats. Got three local companies in contention to run our email.

Currently looking like we'll save 40-55k over the next 5 years.

Trickiest thing is trying to find an on-prem DMS
