But even then it was more of a family show. And then the third series, Ultraseven, actually pivoted back towards a more serious tone. It wasn't really until the fifth series, Ultraman Ace, when it went all in on being a kid's show first and foremost. They haven't done one in a while however, they should bring it back honestly

Color me intrigued. The 2006 series relies a bit too much on CG for my liking, but the scanilation of the manga was really good. Might have to reread it.
