These are great, thanks. Completely forgot that Kim was a youtube person. Another question, spurred by comments about camera equipment in the fed thread: When was the last time a wrestling match was shot on film? I think it's Cena/Rock, but if it's not what would it be?

Howdy folks. Was looking to get a book (or books) that has a ton of information about Wrestling Guys. the more obscure/funny/carny/old, the better. I saw this book on the Uncle Elmer wikipedia: https://www.ebay.com/itm/112007614069 ...and that's exactly the type of thing I'm looking for. Almost like a reference book for all the gimmicks that there have been going way back. Is there something like this?

It's very out of date and was absolutely packed with weird misinformation even when it was current, but I owe a lot to The Complete Idiot's Guide To Pro Wrestling by Lou Albano and Bert Sugar. It might be fun to seek out a copy and read through it.

It's limited in scope, obviously, but the WWE Encyclopedia is very thorough and goes through absolutely everyone who has been part of the company including some extremely weird gimmicks. The first edition was able to go into more detail as they had fewer wrestlers to cover at that point - I looked at a modern edition and it just feels overly stuffed and a lot of the fun weirdo entries were cut down or had their pictures removed. It's another fun read.

The main thing I remember in terms of Cody Hall is Nash saying in an interview that his son thought wrestling was stupid, and Nash told him, "Yeah, pretty much. But if you ever come around and want to make guaranteed bank, go find Cody Hall and call up Vince."

When WWF was souring on Kerry Von Erich, did he drop down the card on TV at all or just stop being booked for tapings entirely? I feel like as a kid, I never saw any of his decline. He was a big star, and then he's off TV a while, and then he's dead.

As I recall Kerry was always upper mid card/lower upper card, even being one of Flair's opponents and then he was squashed by the Undertaker and then he slid down the card after that. He took time off for his divorce - I think - so naturally Vince punished him so he was out there against Skinner and never really climbed back up and bounced before his Summerslam match against Papa Shango.

Who was the guy back in 2019/2020 complaining about Marko Stunt and Orange Cassidy being offered AEW contracts despite the fact they weren't 'real' wrestlers? He was a Triple H clone that worked for an independent. He had a single name which I thought was Wardlow when Wardlow debuted but it's obviously not him. It's not Alex Hammerstone either.

What are Masato Tanaka's best matches? I wasn't around for his ECW run, heard the series with Mike Awesome was great. I mostly got into him in his later years, being amazed at his capacity to absorb punishment lol. I imagine he was even better in his prime.

His matches with awesome are just that, they are all super entertaining. His career is loving prolific tho and he's still cranking out good ones, the match he recently had with Mohammed Yone in NOAH sticks out to me, also the stiff one he just had with Bryan Keith up in Seattle at Defy, hell he had a super fun three way with Baliyan Akki (hella underrated) and Emi Sakura in Gatoh Move. I'd just start now tbh, he has so many recent great matches in NOAH and ZERO1 that you'll be busy for a while. Choom Gangster fucked around with this message at 05:02 on Mar 18, 2024 |
