Isn't DLC just a bad proposition unless you already have the kind of apparatus that has devs around who you want to keep busy at all times. Even on the surface it just makes total sense, the number of people who can possibly buy your game is 8 billion people, but the max who can buy your DLC is however many already bought your game. Most people do not even finish games, so night not even have a reason to need more game. The Supraland dev had a steam news post about it once when he decided to make a DLC into a standalone game. Even accounting for the extra cost of devs and time to expand it, it just made more sense to release a new thing people might buy than to go fishing for prior customers or try to lure in with a deal, which probably means discounting the base game more heavily.

I'm assuming Undawn is one of those base builder ripoff games like Mafia City, Rise of Nations, et al. Where it eventually takes like 5 days real time to upgrade your HQ and your city can get raided by other players all the time. There's a million of those things and they all use the same icons.
