also those of you who tried mystic spearhand or haven't yet, don't sleep on the invulnerability bubble.

combined with the mage augment that increases buff timers i can make my entire team invulnerable for pretty much ever. i killed a drake earlier pretty handily with it, you can even revive pawns while it's on you. it's goofy!

I am not an egghead. I am well-read.
Got a randomly generated escort quest of an old lady wanting to go home. Turned out she lived at the Border Gate Town on the edge of the beastren kingdom, where I had never been before, so I was like 'hell yeah, grandma, let's go on an adventure!'

Two full days of goblins, lizards, caves, orcs, ogres, a drake who REALLY wanted to throw down, and my first chimera, we staggered into the deserty town, and she said thank you and gave me my much deserved reward: 1300g and a bottle of fruit compote.

Thanks, Granny.

Sorcerer is absolutely busted ridiculous... once you get the 2 Maister spells. They do suffer pretty heavily from 4 moveslot syndrome but your bread and butter will be to have one big nuke spell (pick Meteoran or Maelstrom, the Maister spells) and the others covering the other elements but faster casting. I personally go with Levin/Frigor as they're good for small flying/ground units respectively. Then a flex slot depending on ypur playstyle.

Make sure any spellbooks that go in your 'valuables' tab you don't use since you need them for both Maister quests. One of them requires you to hand in real books the other you can get away with turning in forgeries.

Its fun to learn how to exploit openings in enemy patterns to get off the big nukes. Once you're in the mid 30s and have a good Archstaff a single cast of Meteoran can usually kill or mostly kill Cyclops/Ogres/Chimera/Griffons/Minotaurs/Liches/Dullahans and rip through like half a drake's health. It rules and makes you feel powerful as hell.

I came across someone's pawn in the rift that had 3 ranks in every single available vocation, at level 20.

Also, the default "wakestone shard for traveling a day/night" pawn quest seems way better than most others I've encountered, except maybe the "10,000 for killing a Cyclops" one.

These are all spoilers for early-ish to mid game quests in the Vermund capital:

First I did a quest to help rescue a kid from some catacombs built next to/under the Gracious Hand building in the slums. That reveals an old library hidden under the building. Then one of the main quests for Brant is to visit a magistrate that Disa has imprisoned in the dungeons. He can't be convinced to escape (afaik) unless he has a nice place to hide out that will stimulate his mind.

You recommend the old library in the Gracious Hand catacombs so he follows you out of the dungeon. I assume it's totally possible for him to die here or be recaptured since I had to bust out a wall in a nearby cell to get him back to the slums. That part is almost beat-for-beat a mission from DD1.

Then I went to pay the magistrate a visit after following up with Brant (but before I did any of his other quests). That's when he mentioned that his glasses had been confiscated and put in a storage room inside the castle. He added that a masquerade would be held in that area and it's a good pretext to steal the glasses back for him. The masquerade is a main mission you get from Brant that afaik you can do in any order.

I haven't started the masquerade mission yet so hopefully I can get into the storage room while I'm inside the castle.

I got the Glasses outside of this Brant Chain by completing a Gracious Hand Chain that involved getting evidence and apprehending a Priest poisoning the patients. Which to me to the Goal tower providing access to the Mascarade Hall.

So there's likely heaps of questing interconnection intentional or not.

mage is easy, i just had empyrean/frigor/lightning one (and eventually their high versions) along with celerity as a buff, i rarely remembered to use it though so you could switch it for whatever.

empyrean is useless against anything that isn't undead pretty much but i was able to kill a wight in a dank rear end lich library with it, very early in the game while i was going with gregor to melve. poor gregor died fighting it but thankfully i had a wakestone for him. was incredibly intense though, everyone in my party had like 20% max health by the end due to the amount of times i died/revived everyone. love doing those fights when your extremely early and weak as gently caress!

anyway sorry idk what tips to say other than use the element that works best, frigor in general is pretty great for little guys cause it'll toss em up and either kill them outright or let your pawns just brutally stab them on the ground. lightning in general is a great all arounder.

idk that it's worth it to max mage before doing sorc, maybe? the top end mage augment is good (increased stamina recovery) and probably good for sorc.

e; Can someone explain how exactly pawns and items work in terms of other worlds? If my pawn is carrying random crap is that gonna be available to someone who hires her? And more pressingly, if I have someone pack muling (thanks lymarra, Phalanx is a kickass pawn in and out of combat :v: ) and I dismiss them is all the stuff I gave them to carry going with them or what? I had assumed not but at some point I seem to have misplaced my camping gear and though another one was easily sourced, the only thing I could think of that got rid of it is if I had it on a hired pawn and then dismissed them.

Sorc really doesn't need the increased stam recovery augment because its dedicated class action is just 'rapidly refill your stamina'.

For those of you looking around for seeker tokens, it helps to get one rank up in the trickster class. It unlocks an augment that makes them gleam really brightly and makes a repeating noise when you're near one.

it's very funny that thief has some of the game's hands down best base skills (notably ensnare and helm splitter) and inarguably its worst loving maister skills. the autododge is kind of thematically appropriate, i guess, but in what loving universe is "i rub my knives together so hard they explode and also damage me" A) useful and B) something a thief would do

I mean on one hand its a callback to the MA skill in DD1. And its a clue that the 'Maister' isn't the real head of the Thieves guild. If you look at the skill it doesn't get the gold borders every other Maister skill gets lol
