I don't remember this being the case in DD1 but you can straight up run to the very last shop in the game and buy essentially maxed out weapons. kinda weird and I regret doing it because it hosed with my progression. (i did not do it for that reason i was just exploring)

also those of you who tried mystic spearhand or haven't yet, don't sleep on the invulnerability bubble. combined with the mage augment that increases buff timers i can make my entire team invulnerable for pretty much ever. i killed a drake earlier pretty handily with it, you can even revive pawns while it's on you. it's goofy!

Got a randomly generated escort quest of an old lady wanting to go home. Turned out she lived at the Border Gate Town on the edge of the beastren kingdom, where I had never been before, so I was like 'hell yeah, grandma, let's go on an adventure!' Two full days of goblins, lizards, caves, orcs, ogres, a drake who REALLY wanted to throw down, and my first chimera, we staggered into the deserty town, and she said thank you and gave me my much deserved reward: 1300g and a bottle of fruit compote. Thanks, Granny.

Vintersorg posted:Seems everyone here picked melee? No posts about casters so I can get hot tips? Sorcerer is absolutely busted ridiculous... once you get the 2 Maister spells. They do suffer pretty heavily from 4 moveslot syndrome but your bread and butter will be to have one big nuke spell (pick Meteoran or Maelstrom, the Maister spells) and the others covering the other elements but faster casting. I personally go with Levin/Frigor as they're good for small flying/ground units respectively. Then a flex slot depending on ypur playstyle. Make sure any spellbooks that go in your 'valuables' tab you don't use since you need them for both Maister quests. One of them requires you to hand in real books the other you can get away with turning in forgeries. Its fun to learn how to exploit openings in enemy patterns to get off the big nukes. Once you're in the mid 30s and have a good Archstaff a single cast of Meteoran can usually kill or mostly kill Cyclops/Ogres/Chimera/Griffons/Minotaurs/Liches/Dullahans and rip through like half a drake's health. It rules and makes you feel powerful as hell.

I came across someone's pawn in the rift that had 3 ranks in every single available vocation, at level 20. Also, the default "wakestone shard for traveling a day/night" pawn quest seems way better than most others I've encountered, except maybe the "10,000 for killing a Cyclops" one.

Man, Mystic Spearhand really feels like the “Main Character” class, huh? Air Dash, ranged slow, and a (maybe?) invulnerable shield with no cooldown that affects allies too?

I really want to unlock warrior already. btw, for parrying are you supposed to tap the button or hold it when the hit is about to connect?

lmao we were going through Trevo Mine guided by a pawn who had been here before, and my own pawn says something like "These narrow passages could easily hide ambushes, be careful" and the guide pawn goes "I'm aware of the particulars." in a really snippy tone, it was funny as hell Also I don't know what killed the last few gobbos in there, I just started getting XP drops and after like four of them the quest completed. e; Can someone explain how exactly pawns and items work in terms of other worlds? If my pawn is carrying random crap is that gonna be available to someone who hires her? And more pressingly, if I have someone pack muling (thanks lymarra, Phalanx is a kickass pawn in and out of combat ) and I dismiss them is all the stuff I gave them to carry going with them or what? I had assumed not but at some point I seem to have misplaced my camping gear and though another one was easily sourced, the only thing I could think of that got rid of it is if I had it on a hired pawn and then dismissed them. This new Thief pawn I just replaced my last Thief with seems to suck and get hit *way* more than my last Thief pawn did. I wonder if it's because the AI is worse at using some skill it has equipped.Zore posted:Incidentally is anyone else swimming in Wakestones compared to game 1? Hoping I don't die before I can get another (only need one more shard at least, which I'll get from my current pawns). Going to switch out pawns a lot more frequently from now on.

For those of you looking around for seeker tokens, it helps to get one rank up in the trickster class. It unlocks an augment that makes them gleam really brightly and makes a repeating noise when you're near one.

Do weapons in this game not have level requirements? I remember in DD1 if you used super high-end weapons at a low level, it would make every single thing you do take tons of stamina, so it wasn't really worth it.

Have they lowered the TTK on the monsters in this one? That was always one of the things I wanted polished out in a sequel. My very vague memories of playing through it blind on PS3 were mostly of how insanely good night was handled contrasted with 30-minute slogs through what should have been cool monster battles. Edit: Also sorceror spells that looked insanely cool and then did very little damage.
