I'd also guess that any pawn with a specialization that isn't forager or logistician gets hired more, because 98% of all non-capcom pawns have either of those.

honestly baffled at the amount of internet vitriol happening about this game. it's a big release and maybe that just draws out a lot of 'gamers,' but jfc i do not give a poo poo if you can spend two bucks on gold that you'd otherwise find by adventuring for 10 minutes.

playstation performance is fine. not great. fine. having quite a good time.

Based on my experience with logistician pawns, they seem like the kind of thing that someone will hire exactly once and then never again, because it sounds so much better on paper than it actually is.

What do you have to gain from your pawn completing their missions? Do you get RC? I figured a quest to get an item like a golden beetle in exchange for money is simple enough to understand but why would I reward players with money for killing a cyclops with my pawn?

i set up a high gold reward for the pawn camping quest because i want my pawn learning more about the area from fellow players, who are probably going to some different places or taking different paths than me

a lot of the vitriol is from new DD players who didnt play one and didn't get why people like these systems, another part of vitriol is for the online store (understandable, imo, i hate online stores), the other is that people want it like dark souls with lock ons and poo poo. for my part i like the sticky soft-lock on stuff it does. honestly if they can make ensnare for thief target so naturally who needs a lock on?

I'm wondering if I'll ever reach a point where I'm not hard up for money. So far I've only sold valuables based on where the item description implies they're rare/valuable (onyx in Vermund, tiger eyes in the Elven territory, etc.). I haven't been to the beastren territory yet so I'm saving up all that jasper until then. Still it feels like as soon as I get even about 100k gold it's gone in a blink after getting my pawn better gear and weapons. Dark Arisen spoiled me with that DLC monocle that was worth like 300k.

Yes, different towns do different stats. It tells you at the top of the enhance screen what that town's specialty is.

Making up wild poo poo and leaning into it with everything you've got isn't anything new in the world of online discourse, but I don't think I've ever seen it quite to this level in terms of objectively false and/or made-up stuff about a video game. People are still running wild with the "if you start a new character, you'll get banned because you didn't pay the $2.99 for the New Game DLC" thing even though Capcom has already said they're adding a New Game option to the menu in a future update, and there's no "New Game" DLC. Also some people seem to think that not being able to open the standalone Character Creator and edit your appearance in there and have it take effect in the game itself is some kind of conspiracy to make you pay money for the Metamorphosis item, instead of simply being not at all how that works.

the "easiest" way of getting gold is to repeatedly camp by the river in western vermund by the destroyed bridge to respawn the drakes to the south and to the north and kill them over and over. wyrmslife crystals sell for 1.5k per and you get about 10-15ish per drake kill, so you can easily fill your pockets if you're able to kill drakes efficiently

I don't think these are really spoilers, I certainly would have loved to have known this beforehand, but check the specialization tab in the sheet, certain very early quests are supposed to give you tomes, and you can also get one from befriending NPCs. Two specific characters in Vernworth have been confirmed to give you the Logistician's Tome and the Forager's Tome, respectively.

Every time I try to fight a griffin the fuckers let me whittle them down a phase or two and then fly away. One griffin seemed to be hunting me, because every time I ran into it, it would have a chunk of health lopped off.

Ran into the quest for the sculpture and got the dude to watch me fight a griffin. The first time I fought the griffin I almost killed it and the guy was nagging me to leave because he had it committed to memory but I was like “gently caress you, bro. I’m out here trying to kill this fucker,” and the griffin got a lucky hit and killed me. Reloaded the save and the griffin took off after a couple hits which caused my boy to make a lovely sculpture and get dropped by his patron. Guess I should have listened lol.

Different smithing styles affect your stats differently as your weapon's tier increases. I'll have to look into it for armor, but it seems that for weapons Battahl increases your damage more than the other styles at the expense of increased weight, while Elven has the opposite trade-off. Dwarven appears to increase Knockdown at the expense of increased weight instead.

Well after playing a decent amount this weekend and getting to level 17 I'm definitely not in love with this game like a lot of you seem to be, but I've settled into the vibe it's offering and it's pretty chill just wandering around the woods finding poo poo, until you meet a big fucker and the game actually gets a bit challenging for a few minutes. Switched from Fighter to try out Archer last night and found it surprisingly fun, was definitely doing more damage, will prob stick with it a while.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you're supposed to hunt them down after they fly away and eventually kill them that way. I think that was how it worked in the first game as well.

Problem is finding out where they went. Forager isn't too useful for this, one time I was directed to a place that supposedly had 'Great Griffin Claw', but when I got there there was no griffin in sight

Anyone have ideas on how to track them?

Babe Magnet

If you can climb somewhere high you can see them from the opposite side of the map. That's about all I got lol.

The best way to find a gryphon is to be escorting someone or riding in a wagon and you have be done in 10 minutes because you have to start dinner/go to the store/get back to work

they'll fly off to their nests when injured, so you'll either have to watch their flight path when you scare them off and intuit where a reasonable spot for a nest would be, or you need to grab onto them when it looks like they're about to take off and chug roborants to not fall off while they return to their lair

So what's the deal with caves sealed up so you can't break or explode the rocks blocking them off? I entered a tiny doorway in a mountain, fought an ogre in a hilarious hallway battle where it was too fat to do anything but stand there and die, and then couldn't get out either marked exit of the cave after killing a bunch of dudes that tried to kill me.

I finally reached the capital though. Not that I really wanted to, but me and my pawns' inventories were nearly overloaded and it was shorter to slowly walk there than hike all the way back to melve. Just in time though because I've almost capped out fighter and wizard, now I can unlock warrior and sorcerer.
