Supposedly, one of the SBU buildings that was hit was hit by a Zircon from in/around Crimea with a transit time of 6 minutes, and early warning systems could only kick in 10-15 seconds before impact. It does seem there is a escalation on the part of the Russian government either way. Also, the Turkish government, supposedly with Russian cooperation, knocked over an 'ISIS' camp within their borders that Ankara "didn't know about." It is kind of funny, considering that Ankara is also pushing a peace deal at the same time. I guess the question is if the West is seriously trying to bait the Russians into an offensive or to directly attack NATO troops, and if getting European boots on the ground would make a difference. It may very well mean that the Pentagon and the rest of the beltway have moved past the Oryx/Ukrainian numbers they were banking on, and as the news suggests, have accepted the Ukrainians are in bad shape and the only way to increase Russian causalities in an impulsive offensive. The worse thing for both the Ukrainians and the West is for them to slowly pick them apart as they have been doing since even fewer Russians are dying than before and the Ukrainians can't handle slowly grinding warfare. The 18 - 25 cohort were volunteering to serve probably the same as anyone else in Ukraine in the wake of the initial Russian invasion in 2020, they've just never conscripted that age cohort in mass.. but I'm not sure there's this huge untapped pool of manpower that's available to Ukraine the way you might think..
