New game mode is a fun change of pace. Seems like it lets (good) Lights shine a little more than the launch modes since you need some kind of counter to enemies camping on roofs above the sled's route. Skeet shooting with the gravity cube + slug shotgun is pretty fun, also.

So what the post said was that they’re temporarily rotating out bank it and unranked tournaments because they have the fewest players. They will be back in the future but Embark wants to experiment with other game modes without splitting the player base too much. Regarding playing light in 5v5, I have actually tried that. If the opposing team knows what they’re doing (bubbles, and barricaded APS turrets mainly) what you need is heavies with sledgehammers and charge&slam, glitch grenades don’t really help.

Snipers seem good for harassing respawns and reinforcements when you do get a team off the boat too. Forcing someone charging at it to waste time taking cover or hunting for the Light can be pretty impactful. They're also really helpful for finishing the "Kill 5 enemies with quick melee" challenge. I think at least 4 of mine were via creeping up on a Light standing on a roof and doing the gears of war two-piece.

I enjoy playing the 5v5 but I wish there were game modes around destructive environments. I want a game mode that's like what team can destroy the most poo poo + kill players in a limited time. More reason to play a heavy who likes just charging poo poo and collapsing buildings. I don't really enjoy the gunplay in this game but I sure do like the explosives.

I was excited to try it so I've played a bunch of tournaments with the cube but not once did I think "I'm glad I gave up my C4 for this". What uses have you found for it? I've tried lifting cashouts on defense, that usually buys you 3 to 5 seconds at best. Using it for traversal is slow and leaves you really vulnerable so that's out. Haven't had the opportunity to fish a cashout from above but that seems to run into obvious problems. (#1 being opponents can just shoot it) I watched a youtube vid that was suggesting using goo and jump pads to bounce the cashout around after lifting it. That seems kinda fun but also very impractical and challenging to set up with randoms.

also if they want me to play 5v5 more then they need to nerf the APS, which has been just as big of a menace as as Recon or the Nuke was imo. the balance of an item cannot be: i get: infinitely destroy all incoming projectiles you get: no more projectiles ironically the APS in BF2042 was (is?) the same way. even outside of 5v5 they can be extremely loving annoying to encounter but at least you can work around them. and they have given Medium new tools to do that this season. but in 5v5 the Dematerializer doesn't work with the moving platform, and the Data Reshaper would be good if you weren't instagibbed the instant you were spotted by the 3 mediums and 2 heavies riding the platform. sure, your snipers could shoot at the APS, but they aren't gonna. i can think of half a dozen ways to balance it so that it's still desirable to use and not a complete loving nightmare for your opponents to deal with. i'm sure the devs are already working on something if i had to guess. (#1 being opponents can just shoot it) it's an extremely good item right now: - lifting cashouts and skeet shooting players trying to ride it up to steal - lifting cashouts off the moving platforms which are the dumbest cashout locations in this game by far - lifting players off the platform in 5v5 to also skeet shoot them and/or to give your four other teammates all running light sniper to get a chance for a sick nasty headshot - throwing it at a doorway/window/opening when you have a team chasing your rear end and you need to buy just a few more seconds to get a revive in - goo + doorway + gravity cube for cashout defense. - just fuckin' hucking it at people and seeing them short circuit because they don't know what to do it's just a really fun chaos tool at the moment. i've actually started using it over the C4 since they took one of my charges away from me. just throwing down the cube on the cashout when you have all 4 teams fighting around it creates beautiful mayhem. eventually people will learn to just shoot the cube, but it's got a pretty solid HP count on it that still buys you an extra second or two if you need the clutch. This game is still pretty good! The easter event has been a pretty fun way to try out some of the new weapons and gadgets (deleting lights with the heavy slug shotgun is a hoot)

wish they'd change ranked mode back to how it worked before. they previously showed you how many points you got (or lost) after a tournament and how many you needed until the next rank up. now there's zero indication of any of that. game is still super fun but ranked working this way is kind of discouraging

The matchmaking in the casual modes is still a mystery to me because I thought it was skill-based - some matches my team completely steamrolls against a mediocre team, and other times we get our poo poo pushed in against a bunch of sweats who should be in a ranked mode. I just don't get it.

Especially funny to drop that as the same time as the new mode, where there are no cashouts. Terminal Attack seems pretty fun, though obviously extremely dependent on your team. First round I played, my entire team was Lights who clearly had no idea what was going on. We started on defense, and every round they would rush one point and barricade themselves in the room, leaving the other team free to upload and dig in at the second point.

Terminal attack rules. I love how all damage matters so much more now with no healing. Class synergy seems better as well since Lights with a sniper across the map are actually really useful now. I hope they keep the mode.

They're really fun (and very different) game modes. Your point about light snipers rings very true. I loathe having them on my team in any other game mode because they typically contribute nothing to the objectives and everyone can just ignore them but in this one I actually started playing some because it's viable and really fun. The recon gadgets help a ton to prevent getting flanked or to breach defended rooms so it doesn't feel like you're just a headshot dispenser either. Heavy is still slightly dominant in my opinion but it's definitely less oppressive with the no gadgets recharge rule. I'm still playing a bit of ranked on the side cause I'm a sucker for the rewards but I hope they keep fleshing out the new game modes. Judging from the subreddit the reception for terminal attack seemed lukewarm though so I'm not holding my breath.
