I remember a few years back on Twitter some liberals found a thread where a bunch of socialists were talking about the benefits of communal kitchens and they started freaking the gently caress out. A bunch of them started posting about how communal kitchens were one of the most brutal oppressions Chairman Mao forced on the Chinese people, and then at some point some of them started wailing that the evil communists in that thread were trying to murder anybody with food allergies.

It was kind of funny how hysterical they got about the whole thing because I’m pretty sure there were no plans to make everyone eat peanuts at gunpoint.

Many Haredim, especially in the Diaspora, have jobs even if it's not what their society values (there are plenty of books and documentaries on the economics of these communities). From what I've read, the prevalence of Haredim studying full-time after marriage (much more common in Israel than in the Diaspora due to, I presume, more favorable conditions) is a comparatively recent phenomenon; previously, such studying was a privilege for students who were promising and could find sponsors.

yeah I’ve chartered lots of Chinese ships while at western companies and if this poo poo worked then everyone would just pay up for Chinese ships for anything via red sea which isn’t really playing out

From what I understand, this would be ok with Ansar Allah, if the ship was going to the UK or America not Israel. I think they are just striking ships owned by UK/USA. There is a hard limit to how much Chinese shipping is available, sure some of it plying non red sea routes could be replaced with USA/UK shipping freeing the Chinese shipping for Red sea work, but that must be pretty limited. Especially considering eg COSCO is state owned.

I couldn't find any real numbers but this article talks about an increase in Chinese traffic in the region and it being escorted by the Chinese navy. I'm unsure who chartered these ships but having a Chinese beneficial owner must make it easier to receive such support. I can't find anything suggesting the Huang Pu was escorted.

It's all projection, probably. They have to be hysterical because if it really is that simple to just give people food they've been doing everything wrong

What I mean is that despite COSCO being state owned you in the west can charter a COSCO ship for a trip or a short period and trade her as your own, but that you are not seeing people expressing interest in “chinese only” or “pref chinese tonnage” in the market when you 100 pct would see that because ship operators are constantly looking for an angle

With regard to the navy escort, what happened last time the red sea/aden transit got spicy is ships of a given nationality would wait for escort by their respective navy (korean, indian) so maybe you get to ride along on a Chinese convoy for free if they’re escorting.

Any insurance savings they’re getting you won’t see as you’ll get charged Lloyd’s rates, because again, ship operators are always looking for an angle and selling their cheap insurance for $$$ is just one of those angles

Was it Haredi or another sect that had problems with not teaching young men how to read or write in English and just no life skills whatsoever so they can't possibly function outside the community and never leave?
