Been playing scythe/quasar a lot tonight and I'm pretty sure people sleep on the scythe hard because of a lack of hit feedback and reloading making it feel like it's doing less damage than it actually is - it's doing a lot of damage, it's just spread more consistently over time than most guns. There are obviously guns that can kill things faster but its sustainability, mobility and uptime in extended fights means it puts in a pretty serious amount of work

It's bugged. Not everyone can accept it. I've got a friend request from a PS5 friend for 10 days that the game won't let me accept.

Didn't they say that they had fixed it but you have to delete friend request and send another after the fix was issued?

I could be misremembering.

In what ways is it better than the Sickle? It feels a lot worse, and seems to do damage a lot slower while having the same ammo mechanic.

The most recent patch notes still has friend requests as an open issue. We've tried deleting and resending with no luck.

That's my whole problem, the Sickle does ~687 DPS and can fire for a second longer than the Scythe before overheating.

Really? Catch a video? That's not even a mechanic for the weapon that I am aware of. You literally can't overcharge it, it fires automatically after the set time? How did it explode? Are you sure you didn't clip something in front of you? I've used it a lot.

Apparently there is a single shot break action grenade launcher pistol with 8 total spare shots coming soon, I know that's going to get a lot of service from me.

oh it definitely fired! i even watched the target explode from the perspective of my spontaneously-reduced-to-gibs corpse one of those shots

and to be clear it fired just fine several other times that same mission. if i didn't have two other people attesting to it i would have just assumed i got rocketed from behind at an unlucky moment (and i thought that's what happened the first time)

I don't use the sickle primarily because it just feels dull to me but upsides to the scythe include better spoolup speed and mobility, and being the coolest person with the raddest gun in every group you join. The scythe is perfectly capable of smashing missions on any difficulty so cool factor goes a long way.

What does "better mobility" mean when it's the same as shooting any other not-smg primary? Worse even, because you have to spend more time firing to kill something.

Better ability to switch rapidly between targets for long periods of time without overheating because of its faster spoolup speed

Anyway my point is people think it's unusably bad but that's a skill issue, it's good.

The one time I saw someone use the gas orbital I waited patiently until I saw the green cloud dissipate then ran ahead and died. It seems to be bugged in that regard.

It's unusably bad. In your video showing it off, it's unusably bad. You get bullied by a few berserkers for ages, while your actual dps rover shoots a hillside because it can't handle the slope.

If you think spending 5 seconds sprinting away from berserkers is "spending ages getting bullied by them" then I understand why you're not strong enough to carry the scythe. It's okay though, it's reserved for only the best and most stylish helldivers.

Quasar is a good "I don't want to be the anti-armor guy but I also don't want to be owned if I need anti-armor" selection. If you find yourself being the kind of player who prefers to just use their primary/secondary/stratagems over supports, but you want a weapon you can pull out at any time forever to delete a charger/hulk/dropship/etc when your stratagem are on CD the Quasar works. Also you can keep your backpack slot.

Yeah, I am really enjoying this against bots with the Sickle as primary. I've got a rocket blast when I want it (and honestly the cooldown isn't much longer than running back for the second EAT) and a primary with almost infinite ammo to use the rest of the time. And it doesn't feel bad using it against Striders or bot fabricators because it'll be back up in a few seconds anyway with no waste of ammo. I almost miss having to manage ammo with that loadout, actually, feels slightly OP but also like I'm missing out on a part of the game.

(I haven't tried it on bugs yet because good patriotic Helldivers are defending Draupnir and pushing forward towards Tibit.)

I tried out the Scythe on a bot elimination mission and it seems like if there's even remotely more medium robots than little ones it just doesn't do enough fast enough to stop you from being overwhelmed, you can't hold your ground with it. The laser cannon feels like the minimum amount of damage you need for a sustained beam weapon, and the Scythe is like half of that? And the pistol is half of the Scythe's damage?? The Blitzer also doesn't do great against Devastators but it at least stuns them and interrupts rocket guy firing animations. The Blitzer also targets Scout Striders instead of the rider, even from behind, so it doesn't kill them well when you have a clear shot, and I'd still prefer it over a Scythe.

They were, of course, summarily executed for their treacherous cowardice.
...Once they finally touched ground, that is.

Was ambling along next to the other two players and suddenly got propelled at maximum velocity into orbit for reasons that are unknown to me but must have something to do with the socialist tyranny of the game's physics.)

It took you nearly fourty seconds while in full retreat, with rover help and a reload, to kill 4 berserkers. I'd say 'getting bullied' is accurate.

Finally got fully tilted during a trio lvl7 bug mission. We were fighting off a couple titans on the LZ, Pelican came down and I made a break for it since I was carrying the super samples. One of our guys goes down quick and the other has a titan on him. I was 3 feet from the bottom of the ramp when I suddenly die from titan vomit and the guy who was kiting it runs around Pelican and then dives over my dropped samples into the bird. That's the first time in a while I've let out a loud 'FUUUUUUUUCK' at a vidya game.
