It's because Planetary Defense missions are terrible so people don't bother, honestly they should probably just drop that aspect and only have planets be a binary state of either being occupied or liberated

The Quasar is growing on me. I love the autocannon, and I think a Quasar/AC squad would be great for dealing with bots.

It's actually more fun being level 50 and capped out on everything because it means there's no stakes and you can just have fun with it. Pubbies gently caress around at extract not getting into the shuttle and lose the super samples? Lol, that's fun.

Gonna be honest I don’t get the “story” part of major orders or why it matters. I do them to win medals

There’s a larger narrative but gameplay wise I don’t really see any changes.

Although I might be a bit whatever about it because some of the last few planets have been really mid and overly foggy messes. I want something that’s a bit more unique.

There are only 2 biomes most players haven't seen yet, one is an arid western style desert, one is an acid planet with canyons like Fori. There are about 30 more biomes they haven't implemented yet, hopefully they'll be coming when the third faction is introduced, some of them look really cool

Boy, yeah, we had an op last night going well, third was an evacuation and holy poo poo, that was a sea of bots. Three minutes in we couldn't extract anyone else from the excess socialism, the entire place was just craters by the point we ran out of time and reinforcements. It was awesome, but didn't contribute to the defense of Daupnir.

Holy poo poo the laser drone is always trash for me against robots :sigh: For whatever reason, it forever aims slightly to the right of their legs to hit the ground behind small robo soldiers. Every time. Even when they were standing still. Any kills it managed were essentially on accident as it moved to keep up with me.

Sure it can actually hit chainsaw bots due to the size of their body. But if it can't deal with the fodder for me so I can focus on medium bots (not like it aims at the pilot of scout walkers anyways if I am reloading while behind them) no wonder people who call it overpowered are basically guaranteed to be talking about bug missions.

Inconclusive and I think it still may have some jank? I ran around a level 4 throwing it at camps and it seems like stuff didn’t die still. I had a ps5 pubbie join me for a bit so maybe there are cross play issues too and it’s not as straight forward as “are you the host or not?” Seems weird to expect cross play to cause issues but there have been other damage bugs related to that so who knows.

I said earlier in the thread, but I currently don't like how restrictive it is in terms of where you can 'usefully' fight at a given time, and I don't trust that we have true agency because it seems like they're going to be engineering or fully godhanding their way through a series of narrative beats. The combination of these two things makes me kinda disinclined to go back and fight on Draupnir, a planet that bums me out and I already spent plenty of time on.

I can see it from their perspective as well, I think it's a cool and noble idea to try GMing a shared experience and do diegetic content drops and stuff but I think it comes at a cost. I'm struggling to give a gently caress and just kinda irritated at the narrow range of biomes available.

I kind of find the opposite, the shared galactic war keeps me coming back, and the rotating planets give me a reason to check out one I haven't played in a while. There are 15 biomes in game right now, you currently have access to almost half of those. I think it's better to be somewhat limited, makes it last longer. Once the third faction is in play and they start implementing the next 30 or so biomes, you'll be spoilt for choice.

Maybe I'm just old but I feel like if Valve had made it so you could only play Death Toll after the community grinded No Mercy for a week that wouldn't have been well received. This is a disingenuous comparison, but still kinda reflects how I feel about it. I can see it might make it feel fresh for some people but I guess I am intrinsically motivated to play games that are fun simply because they're fun. Having to fill a bar to unlock the next sidearm or next level actually kinda detracts from the experience for me in this genre. I enjoy progression systems and level gating in linear RPGs, narrative games and strategic stuff like Civ or XCOM.

Anyway, nobody cares about my curmudgeonly poo poo I'm sure. Without any hint of sarcasm at all, I'm genuinely glad you're enjoying the format and I hope the game progresses towards a future where we both get more of what we want. I would be placated with a bit more choice.

It couldn’t shoot anymore so it just followed me around like a lost puppy for the rest of the map. I kept panicking when I saw it then realized it was just my buddy.

This happened to me last night. I put two Scorcher magazines into a strider that was in my face and didn’t understand why I wasn’t scoring any hits on the driver. I then died from other fire and before observation mode kicked in the strider turned enough that I could see it was unmanned. Very weird.

We blew up a dropship as like 4 of those were coming down and it killed all the robots but all 4 of the strider things just kinda stood around waiting for something to do. They followed us for a bit and I tried to climb in one but no dice so my teammate just blew em all up.

Hear me out, on bots its goated because you can snipe literally every objective or tower/jammer without going near the base. You can do the WASD funny dance to get the lock to work.

Like gently caress it does. I spent at least 3 days trying it out every drop, and it consistently inexplicably refused to lock towers, tanks, hulks, radars, factories, chargers, titans, spores but would lock and stay locked on jetpack and hunters.

Used the HMG a few runs last night vs bugs. Id say fix its sights, give it a third person crosshair, and 25 more rounds a magazine and it would be in an ok spot.

I've never been able to snipe a bot tower with the spear because it simply refuses to lock on.

Phew. SO MANY BUGS on Fori Prime. It feels like when I enter the map at Suicide, I never stop shooting until I get out. I have a spray&pray, GL and ammo bag, autocannon & emp sentries. It's just full tilt shooting at bugs. Then you get out with 500+ kills. GL feels like the most efficient gun to kill bugs, since you can reload while running. Is there anything better?

GL is pretty much the tops for bug killin'. It can pop spewers quicker than the machine guns, and it's got a wider AoE than the autocannon.

The fastest objective rush I've ever done was on a bot 7 Command Center mission, where the objective was literally right next to the extract so we dropped right on the objective, dropped 500kg, ended up dying pretty much immediately, respawned and just dropped right on the extract to call it in with 39:01 still on the clock (we probably could have looked around for stuff but decided to full commit for the meme). :c00lbert:

We always take out that objective with an orbital laser immediately and then spend 20 minutes trying not to die before extracting.

IIRC their content update/release strategy was the second (or third) Thursday of every month? So I would expect a new premium bond to drop on the 11th (or 18th).

Should be tons of time to farm SC between each if you play regularly.
