I haven't played Magic Archer yet but pretty early on I switched R1<->R2 and L1<->L2 and I haven't regretted it yet.

Jack Trades posted:ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! yeah, the jank is real. I had a random poison saurian myself, but it happened during a dialogue, which was funny. And then as it was a quest dialogue where the NPC just disappeared in a fade to black transition, the saurian was gone before I got to deal with it. I also had my thief arisen stuck in the grappling hook pulling animation after a fight, with the hook/rope tied to a cliff face and my character desperately trying to pull down the rocks apparently. Had to save+reload to regain control. Also save+reload required to fix my pawn stuck on the spot with her hand desperately out for a victory clap. You could feel the loneliness as the whole party moved out around the hill until I realised she was missing, and here she was, on the location of the last fight, in the same position, hand extended, still seeking validation from the arisen...

I ended up killing the sphinx for my first playthrough but for the riddle of rumination: how are you supposed to keep track of where you got your first seeker token to complete all the riddles for the trophy? Would I just need to start over completely and make a note of where I picked up the first token?

You can do the Gift of the Bow quest as Magick Archer and it doesn't make much sense if you do that, lol.

Got into a golem fight as a Sorceror who still had just my starting spells. Finally had to unequip my staff and climb the golem, punching out medals because it was the only way the fight was ever going to finish, the pawns simply couldn't target them worth a drat.

Man, getting poisoned sure is miserable when you still low level poors. I had literally ONE pitywort in my stockpile (and 7 syrup leaf or whatever) for some reason so could cure myself from "Pawn running in from off camera as you throw a jar of poison". But the future is looking grim. The internet seems to be a checklist of things that don't help me in the early game either? Step 1: "Just craft the cure." Had one pitywort in my entire "throw nothing away" stockpile at the inn. I could cure myself ONCE, and now have nothing for the future. Step 2: "Just buy the cure" Melve pharmacy only sells the basic health items for me, so was poo poo out of luck there. (They will sell poison arrows, but no cure. What is with this town?!) Step 3: "Have your pawn mage cast high Halidom." Me and my archer main only JUST hit level 12/rank 5. so a rank 6 spell user is not in the budget of under 500rc total even if one with that spell was on offer (Especially with how much they love to get dunked off of cliffs by monsters). To avoid this problem in the future with my current low level nothing status. Do I have to go all the way back to the main city to stock up on poison cures when I only finally clawed my way back up to 15k walking to melve after emptying my pockets for a less poo poo sword and shield? Or does being low level mean those vendors won't be selling it either? In the meantime I sent the poor knight pawn hanging out with us home without finishing their hang out for a day quest. Because if I am going to spend money on an inn save, I am doing it without needing to go through the process of hiring somebody not constantly suffering from a lack of cures if I gotta relaod. Getting the wagon from the city back to melve to deliver a letter instantly attacked by griffins I did zero damage to for ten minutes before it flew off was kinda funny. But perma poison with no apparent access to poison cures is just exhausting. Thank god I could make literally one.

Some of the design choices in this game are seriously hurting my enjoyment of it 1) Stamina being used outside of combat 2) No hide helmet option or glamour system 3) Forced romances These all existed in the first game of course, but that was released 12 years ago. I've changed, and I thought they would have changed as well.

I got poisoned early in game too, but had a mage pawn, so every now and then they'd cast the green healing bubble (rank 0 core skill) which was enough to keep going until I found a campsite. Poison goes away on sleep. That mage bubble does some heavy lifting at low levels. If they don't cast it by themselves, just hit the "Help me" order and they should do it.

Because a lot of what you hear is "Friction is great" and "So my pawns were eaten by a slime while I was camping", I assumed I would get a case of "You have now saved over someone dying from poison in your sleep, what did you think would happen" As I am doing some wishy washy "I want to know what shops have for sale but I also want to be like... 3/4? blind.... okay call it 3/5". I was getting nervous when the basic mage pawn I hired stopped spamming it in town, and then revealed they will still cast it!... in doorways. Glad to hear a cheap night sleep with a camp kit can deal. But yeah games with "forever" statuses that every case of "Oh but it is so easy to cure-" comes from a point of mid to late game complacency is a decades old gamer grudge. On a lighter note. I know animal cruelty is wrong. But ALSO, the perfect corkscrew innocent wildlife makes when I shield bash them is perfect.

Wasn't sure if it was going to clear out, still be there on waking up, or if I was going to get a popup telling me I died.

I found the two working trebuchets at the ancient battleground. One opened up a small room with minimal treasure, and the other opened up a mountain path (which you can reach anyway with some careful climbing). I've heard there's a third one out there somewhere though. Kind of a shame that they're pre aimed, I wonder how much damage a drake would take if you were to hit one.

My beloved ended up being Sara which was exactly who I wanted. I had no idea Wilhelmina had her own romance quest until after I beat the game. She just kinda disappeared after the two or three main quest missions she was in. On my replay I'll really have to test if the escort quests have lots of hidden backstory in them or not. Seems like you only get them when the person is at max affinity. I'm wondering if there's anything to glean from - endgame/end credits spoilers - the post-credit scene being that crazy fisherman sailing out into the ocean. Maybe a hint that the DLC will be far away from the main game location like Bitterblack Isle? Maybe we sail off to a new kingdom? Maybe the brine is no more and they'll finally make swimming mechanics? (lol)

You might get two shots if you're lucky, but it does fairly minimal damage unless somehow you can get a ballista bolt into their weak point. Aw man, it's kind of a bummer that warfarer still requires class weapons for specific skills. I just wanted to play a fighter who could bomb jump (I know I could just switch weapons, but still).

# ? Apr 2, 2024 16:46 |

My warfarer dreams were shattered when I discovered that the trickster effigy pretty much dies instantly when you switch weapons from the incense thingy. I think people underestimate how much aggro it pulls. As long as you are hitting your shroud ability every now and then, everything just goes wild trying to kill it. It's easy to heal too! Anyone else come up with cool combos for warfarer? I'm not clever enough to do anything fun with it apparently...

Warfarer and Trickster are bad classes, I hope they get reworked or changed at some point.

I like the Trickster, except for the part where if I even get slightly tapped my illusion goes away, and then all the enemy aggro refocuses on me. Skill issue maybe, but it can be frustrating. Plus while it's a fun gimmick some of the other classes can just do such insane stuff it seems overshadowed.

I hope we get a DLC class or two along with whatever the big expansions are. I haven't spent enough time with Warfarer or Trickster to form an opinion on them but I would've liked a monk/punchman class since it never made it out of DD1's concept stage, and also I want a V-style necromancer class.

I was all, that's weird, I know mages are relatively squishy, but they should still be more survivable than that. I check his stats and he has less than 350 Defense, and this was at level 62 or so. I'm tolerant when it comes to stat spread, I don't really care all that much, but you need to make sure your pawn's equipment is broadly in line with their level. And the armor might actually be more important than the weapon, no one wants to be reviving your garbage rear end pawn every five seconds.

Imaginary Friend posted:Magic Archer with the skill that loads up a bunch of arrows into one shot coupled with magic spearguy with immunity bubble and dash is pretty ok. You can cling to monster and swing around with the spear, switching to bow as you get further away or the enemy gets out of range. Wayfarer is kind of undercooked and clunky though, I think. Sounds kinda cool I guess I'll have to play around with it a bit more. Just carrying a staff so you can levitate when you need too is pretty nice if anything else. Also, I forgot the best part about the trickster (and warfarer I suppose) is, of course, the fashion.
