If Alley Oop ever goes back to the adventure side of the strip it's gonna be very awkward to cheer for the hero after spending a month+ showcasing what a shallow, vile person he is. :v:

I would describe most vehicles on American roadways today as "King-size Disaster Wagons"

And yes, getting the sense that the 50-foot-tall "rescue vehicle" going full Gravedigger over a street full of parked cars is making things much worse.

for the record, the new surfers record at that point would have been their first full-length (after a pair of EPs), "psychic...powerless...another man's sac," which came out in late 1984 - the follow-up EP "cream corn from the socket of davis" wouldn't be released until 1986 in the states

Been reading a few sports pages from the era. While I doubt there were any superstar professional players, polo was a fad among the Hollywood set in the 1930s, and celebrities like Spencer Tracy, Will Rogers, and Walt Disney were polo buffs. So some of the Hollywood glitz rubbed off on the game, and that might be why Alex Raymond decided to make Flash a polo star.

It's not so much that as she's already crossed the Rubicon by interviewing Mina & passing her up to Regional, and Bulb-head is easily rooked. It's not impossible for Marla to refuse her at this stage, but she'll have to explain to a hostile superior why she flip-flopped, and rumours from a prior employer/employee subordinates don't fly well or far.
