im of the opinion that brakes are the most important safety component on a car and when you go to turn them on they should work no matter what but i realize now that i type it how fuckin woke that sounds

im kinda gobsmacked that EVs don't have to put on brake lights to show they're doing regenerative braking like, yeah, manuals can engine brake but also manuals are dwindling

I only drive my friends Tesla once and didn’t realize that about when you take your foot off the pedal

Real EVs do put your brake lights on when regenerative/one pedal braking when the rate of deceleration hits a certain threshold where they are actively slowing down rather than just coasting. Regulations require it to show the brake lights if it's slowing by more than 1.3m/s². Cybertrucks and other Teslas who knows what they do or what even they're supposed to do. Edit: or Ioniqs I guess lmao I did have one do that to me a few weeks ago but forgot about it until that video

i of course cant find it but I swear there was a concept car in the maybe 70s that had green taillights for acceleration and yellow lights for coasting and it kicked rear end

there we go, 1970 mustang milano "Another feature unheard of was the color-changing tail lamps that glowed green during acceleration, red when the brakes were applied, and then turned back to amber when coasting."

it’s is (very, very) funny that these things keep breaking but maybe the NHTSA should step in and stop him from being able to sell 4000+ pound vehicles without working brakes or airbags or powertains

It would be funny if elon being a complete loon at this point was putting out bad EVs to cast doubt on them but instead its just now all being used to say he's personally a fraud and a loon

every car i have ever owned has had a hair trigger on the brake pedal that activates the brake lights before the brakes are even close to engaging, let alone actually slowing the car down.

Now that I think about it, what could exiting and re-entering the vehicle have to do with restoring the overall power systems? Is it just their way of saying turning it off and on again? Can't that be done while staying in the car? Or is this just that classic IT trick of getting the user to straighten the network cable as a way to get them to actually check it's plugged in because they'll just say they already did it otherwise?
