I understand. it also helped me to pretend I was the monster in the movie. cause then you are winning and not losing all the time and having a great time really. another trick is to imagine thirty people standing right behind the camera on their phones as the scene unfolds. tricks like this have made semi horror movies bearable.

yeah. john carpenter is also perhaps my favorite director, or top 3

non-dark comedy is probably my least favorite genre. most of the time it's chuck lorre-tier

the horror genre is a bourgeoisie concept that is wholly unnatural in the universe. like lobsters and baby names, it trickled down from degenerate wealth to the proletariats. real horror is hiding in the woods at night to get your rear end eaten instead of in the town square to ruptuous applause

i recently watched throne of blood, kurosawa's adaptation of macbeth, and that was pretty god damned good. fantastic mifune performance, loved the weaving ghost guy and crazy wife. tonight i watched a bit of leviathan (1989) starring peter weller, daniel stern, ernie hudson, and richard crenna (rambo's boss!), and that wasn't quite as good as throne of blood but still moderately entertaining for an abyss/alien knockoff starring robocop and a ghostbuster

Yeah, that's my favorite of his Shakespeare adaptations, although "Ran" is visually very pretty.

Right? I remember my dad showed it to me when I was a kid and at first I was like "lol this is dumb," but that feeling faded VERY quickly.
