One of the last things I did when I was in high school senior year was wander some woods up in northern Maine with my friends at night, where we stumbled upon some old family cemetery plot.

I also lived near the cemetery that was tangentially mentioned in Stephen King's Pet Semetary, and my dad had an office near the old S.W. Collins building mentioned in The Long Walk.

There's something about New England cemeteries that make them spooky as poo poo.

Grew up in rural Mass and also lived in Salem and the environs for a while. Can confirm it’s spooky as poo poo even as an adult in the right conditions. Walking your dog, some fog rolls in and oh boy. Somehow none of the ghost story stuff from 200 years later in Colorado hits as hard

My last build I'm pretty sure I spent almost 3 months exhaustively researching all the individual parts and nerding the gently caress out weighing the pros/cons of push/pull, pull/push and negative/positive/neutral airflow. I even swapped out all the fans that came with my brand new case and AIO CPU water cooler with better fans because I'm psychotic like that.

I went down some deep and dark rabbit holes for sure on that one

Replacing OEM fans with near silent fans is a massive quality of life improvement.

I just wish I could do it on my work laptop.

I'm on my fourth Mac laptop since 2008, which I bought with a student discount at the end of college. First one lasted until late 2011, when I replaced it with a 13" MacBook Pro, which itself lasted until 2017. Replaced it with a MacBook Air (which still had built-in SD card reader and USB ports on each side, plus MagSafe), which I wanted to ride out longer but the battery started getting spicy and I decided to replace the whole thing.

Currently have a 2022 MacBook Air with the MagSafe, which I'm hoping also lasts 5+ years.

in a better world I'd have space to also build a gaming PC which I could setup with a racing wheel and iRacing setup, but alas, I live in too cramped a space for that. Hasn't kept me from thinking about the possibility though :v:

I get built PCs from Doghouse systems because they will load all the operating system and games I ask them to on them for free so I don't have to spend the rest of my life reinstalling everything. Also they put all wires in zip ties or like these wire mesh sausage case things so the internals are super clean

It's expensive as poo poo for a gamer rig but I've had mine for 8 years now and nothing has gone wrong.

Yeah, my work laptop is a Windows HP thing, but that doesn’t count.

The one thing I will mention is I bought a hub-style monitor, which means my mouse or other things are plugged in there, and one USB-C passes power, video, everything to the laptop. Can use it with either, it’s very nice. Having only one cable is a nice life to live.

This happened in the UK two or three years ago. BP said they had to close a couple of hundred petrol stations as they didn't have enough drivers to keep them stocked, Brits took this to mean "we're running out of gas, let's go fill up" and so emptied out almost every petrol station of fuel in about two days

The photos don't capture the fine details like specks of dust and little tiny scratches loving up the supposed shiny sheen, nor the angles contrasting so thoroughly with the natural curves of literally everything around it.

Saw it in a casino..parked in the parking garage for normies instead of the VIP section with the Lambos and Corvettes. Couldn't stop laughing at the thought of that dude being too embarrassed to roll up in "style" in front of everyone.

No, it was not parked at a charging station either.
