Also is contrarian about a bunch of stuff. -white woman raised in private Christian schools who has done the same for her daughters, who votes R because they are the most Christian option. -black man that is mad his two sons believe in various left/socialist ideas like free/cheap college and vocational schools and public healthcare (they both have had dangerous health incidents in the past). Sent me a video the other day with sound bites showing Biden is the REAL RACIST, to which I replied someone should let the kkk and nazis know they are backing the wrong guy. Why do I continue to hang around these people? 1. In normal conversation they are kind, helpful, rational people. They are outgoing and can find common ground with almost anyone. They work, hangout and get along with people from all walks of life. They are fairly generous, would help someone in trouble, and give you the shirt off their back (just NO SOCIALISM). 2. I went through a phase like this in the early 90s, to the hanging out with militia types extreme. Once they felt comfortable going mask off around me I realized what they were really about and quickly changed course. If there was hope for me, there can be hope for them. If I hadn’t had other friends and family to be around who knows how I would have turned out. The psychologists say there’s really no such thing as mass delusion or mass psychosis. Court cases where cultists tried to use this as a defense bear this out, as the accused admitted that they still understood on some level that what they were doing was illegal and still understood right from wrong. Sociologist say that isolation, complexity of life, lack of transparency and lack of trust in authority is to blame. But how can you fix any of these things when no amount of information or even lived experience seems to change their minds. I think back to being in school in the 80s and think about how being “right” mattered more than anything. Regurgitating answers that were drilled into heads, instead of using critical thinking or demonstrating second order thinking. Just be right all the time by repeating what you were told and you get a 100% percent and get all the accolades. Just my best guess right now. He isn't popular by any stretch (hence his poor numbers up until very recently) but so many hate Trump, or are just tired of his BS, that I believe you're going to see Biden's polling continue improve. I don't think you'll see a giant disparity in the numbers (like Biden up 30pt or whatever) though. Too many R's are in thrall for Trump. But I don't think a small increase, and increase, in numbers for Biden is impossible either.
