The peninsula east of the Chesapeake bay is called Delmarva after Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. I'm still surprised there isn't a realer name for it

Wikipedia lists 20 US tri-state areas, some of which seem pretty specious though. There are two four-state areas, but only one where all of them actually touch.

Come on now. Looking at that map there are clearly 3 different Tri-state areas. Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania.
