They're actually a really good firm and well priced. This is l think the first long term issue we've had since we signed up 4 years ago. I'm just bitching cause I hate being without the internet.

I've been mainlining the internet since the 90's. It's poo poo having to go almost cold turkey. I'm expected to talk to my wife.

Who's that with? That's kinda cool tbh. Im with community fibre, it's only them and Hyperoptic that service our building.

I can't complain though, all the other buildings here have standard broadband DSL speeds, I couldn't cope with that these days.

Zen Business, I work from home enough that it is pretty important. It has gone off at annoying times.

Like the World Cup, it went out then and then got an aerial installed for my TV pronto as didn’t want to use backup 4G for it so I WFP then.

I am not sure exactly how much difference it means, it goes down to the Openreach level for support else I wouldn’t have got it as don’t use their equipment as use my own router.

I do always recommend people backup 4G if not just tethering to your phone in some way.

I'm sorry to say an SLA on a service delivered to home means nothing - it's just a statement of confidence since the physical infrastructure is the same. SLA only means something if the last mile is subject to one. I've had both Zen business and home services to my home and they're exactly the same in terms of the technical side and also the support side. That isn't to say the business one is bad, just that the home one is good.

The Openreach care level is increased, I need to find some way to wrangle it as CNI but I don’t think that would be possible.

My posting isn’t that good yet.

I’m going to talk about trains for a bit, because I like trains. Why isn’t there an open route of a sleeper service between Cardiff and Edinburgh/Glasgow? I think there would be a market for it and class 88 locos exist that can run on diesel or overhead. Can operate up to Bristol Parkway - maybe collect more passengers then up the cross country line to Birmingham before the west coast mainline.

I dunno, just seems like something that would be worthwhile.

Why aren't passenger car trains more common like the tunnel? It would be great to be able to roll on to a train and then roll off in Cornwall or whatever. I just want to drive my car in France but I don't want to drive in the UK first, is that so much to ask?

all of this requires the train companies do something more than just increase ticket prices to increase profit so won't happen

AHH, my Step dad is with Zen as he knows their head sales guy, I love their customer support. Those guys really do know their stuff and they're able to pinpoint faults etc down to the distance from the house within a few meters. I'd use them if they had service here.

He had an outage a little while ago and they managed to tell him right away that based on the distance it was likely the cable at the top of the mast outside (which it was) the guy on the phone was even able to see the last time that cable was replaced (was over 13 years at the time) and they got an engineer out the next day to resolve it.

Community use their own infrastructure, which has been great in my experience so far. The reason I actually chose them over Hyperoptic is that Community fibre is literally fibre to my router, where Hyperoptic was fibre to the building then about 1000ft of copper cable.

While a grain platform can be used for corn, a specialized corn head is ordinarily used instead.

Got some Tesco Finest Roast Beef and Horseradish crisps. It’s no Brannigans but a solid replacement for beef and mustard.

Found a suspiciously swollen tin of anchovies in the cupboard, still well within the date, curiosity got the better of me and I opened it in the sink. Holy gently caress I should never let the intrusive thoughts win. the sink now smells like someone has taken a poo poo in it.

I may just be getting old but I seem to remember a thread years ago about whether pissing in the shower is acceptable & some goon admitted to making GBS threads in the shower & mushing it down the plug hole with his foot.

Long story short, I agree.
