Jesus loving christ, I just spent like 3 hours running around insanely frustrated because I wasn't doing any damage before I remembered that late yesterday I did the sphinx challenge where I equipped the "do no damage" ring. Was about ready to declare my save bugged and give up because I couldn't deal with praying the pawn AI would behave and carry me.

Besides the part where they are completely invincible AND have a parry-counter move AND a bunch of skills that stagger the monsters into not being able to do poo poo?

Does anyone know how Warfarer DCP distribution work?
I, out of curiosity, tried playing as a Warfarer from the start and by the time all my vocations reached level 2 the Warfarer itself was at level 4.

Is it something like, 50% of the DCP goes to Warfarer and 50% gets split between all other vocations or something?

Oh they're better at killing the monster. But not as good at holding aggro by being a pinata.

I've gone into this game just vibing with it. whatever happens happens.

It can be kind of confusing to be fair.

I watched someone playing earlier and they did the quest where You have to escort a politician back to town but the people doing his escort are setting you up to take the blame for his assassination. When you encounter Rahgnall and he asks you to pick a side, the streamer sided against Raghnall and he said something like "That's a shame, please follow me and I'll explain the situation!" and the outcome was exactly the same.

From my dumbass experience, fighter is still better at act 1 "Wow I just blocked that griffin or minotaur with my dinner plate" near zero wakestones spent because you suddenly got oneshot.

But yeah the game really, really loves thief. Even having not spent a lot of time with it yet, if I wasn't reading everyone online gush about them, it would still be obvious.

"Wow, you walked ten feet? Have a thief super art... Your fighter hit the jump button a few times while wearing budget plate armor? Have another thief super art, and some free thief gear better than anything else you had looted"

EDIT: You said warrior... Well, I DID say dumbass experience I guess :downs:

Anyone tried petrifying the griffin for the sculptor quest? Is the outcome any different from just dragging the fight out?

It's baffling to me how big of a deal that is for some players.

I beat the game after 90 hours, all the way to the end, and at no point did I have to do ANYTHING about the dragon's ligma. Not a single time.

Hmm. During my first playthrough my main pawn caught the Dragonblight several times, I deliberately never did anything to stop it after the first occurrence, and for some reason it never seemed to progress. I think my pawns just kept passing it around until finally the one who had it happened to be dismissed.

Now on my second playthrough I've figured out a surefire way to get the bad outcome - wait until your main pawn catches it, immediately dismiss any support pawns you might have, then just rest a few times. The consequences are honestly pretty severe, with lots of vendors and quest NPCs dead. Frankly, if you somehow didn't catch it in time, I can understand being taken aback by what happens. I personally like that they went all-out with it, it's very Dragon's Dogma.

Formless Feint is just hilariously broken if you have a pawn that uses Celestial Paean regularly. You just turn on your "can't touch me" ability and... leave it on.

It's much, much slower than that. I've been playing as it for probably 50+ levels and two of my vocations are still only rank 7. I got my pawn from rank 1 to max in a vocation in a single levels worth of experience.

Jokatgulm is tedium.
Jokatgulm is pain.
Jokatgulm is suffering.

Finished it last night and I know I missed a lot, like the entire sphinx, but I figured I wouldn't look up too much on the first run, but overall I liked it, a perfect 7/10 japanese eurojank RPG. The Unmoored world reveal was pretty interesting , though I don't get how it actually relates to the ending. The entire unmoored world is about getting people to evacuate to Gran Soren so they survive when the rest of the world doesn't, but the ending has everyone back as if it never happened, even Melve which was explicitly destroyed by a dragon and eaten by the cloud.
Kind of disappointed by the dragonblight, only got the tutorial prompt just as I was recruiting pawns for the end game, so I skipped it, based on people talking both in and out of game I figured it would be a bigger issue.

Really special game, despite the issues, will probably let it rest for a while before doing a more comprehensive NG+ run, but really glad I got in on the ground floor before everything was really know, and while there were a lot of active goon pawns.

Yeah i haven't checked the math but it feels like it's probably 1-10% dcp to non warfarer vocations

Pretty obnoxious + unnecessary that the skeletons who break the boards barring the gate in the dungeon that connects the elf forest and Melve don't spawn until you've completed the quest that sends you there.

God, I hate cave missions because it really shows heavy flaws in pawn pathing and targeting AI :sigh:

Broken boulders? Just a mysterious eldritch object they can't fathom pathing around until I hand carry them away from them.

Slimes in a doorway? Better back off 10 feet and watch in befuddlement as the arisen burns through every healing item they own. Next slime baited into the tunnel? Better back off 15 feet so enchanted bows and staffs can't have line of sight on the slime through a few stray rocks.

These enemies die in 5 seconds (with enchanted weapons) when the AI is not being a dumbass, but slimes go from "Will never try to eat you" to "Instant grapple" the absolute instant they know your pawns will not do anything to help. And not like the Pawns will take the initiative there. Even pawn mages that will football tackle a goblin will decide to stare dumbly, or everyone flees shouting "This way to the quest on the other side of the country, master!" when you try to use the go command :argh:

If they get near you, they start rapidly draining your stamina. If your stamina bottoms out, they do a grapple that drains your entire health bar -- you can survive if you eat through it, but it is by far the most lethal of the small monsters if you don't have the right enchant up or get ambushed from off camera.

They're immune to pure physical damage, so warriors and fighters can have a rough time if they don't have an enchanted weapon

I don't know. I had one fall on top of my head and I just...walked out?
I never seen them act like ghosts do, because those can occasionally be dangerous if you happen to have no magic damage at all.

Which makes it even more annoying when you suffer a case of "I'm not dead yet, but my pawns not taking two seconds to do anything but stare dumbly at me sure isn't helping", yeah. I don't tend to carry a lot of stamina consumables because it isn't normally a problem. But like healing items I start bringing more as insurance for pawn mistakes instead of my own.

I have even stopped using boulder traps on large monsters outdoors, because pawn AI goes from input reading savant to malfunctioning Roomba if there is a chunk of busted boulder down the hill between them and the monster.

Yeah the problem isn't "I'm not enchanted", the problem is when slimes go from basically free kills to "oops, chain stunned while your pawns stare at you doing nothing because they don't like the look of that archway or stalagmite".

My collection of tomes I keep forgetting to put into storage won't solve that, unless you can use them while in a stun state? In which case I should remember to reach for the levin tomes the next time rescuing a pawn from a slime has them thank me by running back thirty feet and then laughing as I take their place.

To be fair, I really should remember I can revive pawns for free when I see them uselessly flailing inside of one. Instead of dropping everything to start stabbing.

Guess pawns learning from your actions don't include returning the favor.
