Finally getting somewhere where I can watch the Maxxine trailer properly : This looks really good. And I say that as someone who was just firmly whelmed by X and Pearl ; they were fine, but not my slice of pie. For whatever reason this kind of stylization is jiving with me more. Moderately excited to watch that when it comes out.

It’s weird as hell other countries have gotten the 4K UHD blu-ray releases of X and Pearl and the US hasn’t. I’m hoping when MaXXXine drops A24 will do a complete 4K trilogy drop

yeah they must be waiting for some $150 dollar set to drop. That Stop Making Sense set was $70 for a 4K set of one movie. A24 is going to make this thing as overpriced as possible.

Not strictly horror but hey Jordan Peele produced it and I was deeply on edge the entire time: Monkey Man ruled, Dev Patel is great, some really gross violence and it's funny having this play in the room next to Godzilla x Kong

Yea with the second tier releases what we're seeing pretty often is a regular blu ray release and then maybe like 6 months or 8 months later you maybe get the UHD release and it might be an expensive boutique release. And by "second tier" I basically mean anything that isn't a AAA blockbuster, so most horror falls into that category. That's what happened with M3GAN, the 4k release was more than 6 months after the initial blu ray.

Of course, part of the reason it's legendary is because of how wildly impractical it is, a lot of movie collectors don't like big bulky sets that can't fit neatly onto the shelf.

My sister-in-law recommended me a horror/mystery TV-series with the really bland title "From" that I'd never heard of, but it stars Harold Perrineau and I like him, so I've been checking it out. The premise is people get stuck in a small town that's impossible to leave, and after sundown, creatures, who appear to be some kind of ravenous vampires that masquerade as kindly smiling people coming a-knockin', come out to kill anyone not indoors. I'm on episode 4, it's entertaining and has some gory visuals, though I have very strong feelings all the mystery box elements (why do people get trapped? What are the creatures? Why are they held back by mysterious talismans one guy "found?") were written without any intent to resolve them, and apparently it's by some former Lost people, so that inkling is pretty likely justified. Still, might be fun for a single season.

S2 enters Lost territory where they keep posing more weird things happening but not a lot of explanation and ends on a similar cliff hanger. It focuses a lot on characters and the conflict between them instead of the overall mystery.

The plot is: Gorman's grenade went off close enough to Burke's cocoon to blast him free, and he was able to sneak back aboard the dropship while Bishop sedated Hicks. Once the others are in hypersleep he contacts the Company, and it goes from there. It's a really good look into Burke, written from a treatment by Paul Reiser himself.
