Well, if you worry about that, some pediatric therapist made a mod that adds a therapist to the valley and they've been working on adding things where, for example, Pam and Shane go to alcoholic support groups with him at the appropriate spot in their arcs!

https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/20597

I find it wholesome that a therapist looked at everyone in the valley and was like "a lot of these people need therapy, and I CAN MAKE THAT HAPPEN."

This is really wholesome. Thanks for sharing. :3: And it has a patch to make it work with SVE! I think I'll pick this up when I start a new 1.6 farm. Which should be soon.

Oh yeah, it’s a pain to get their location. Play the game long enough and you kinda get a general sense of where people should be at a given time. But it’s still a wild goose chase sometimes. The worst is when you need to talk to Sebastian, Leah, or Elliot and they’re hanging out in their house and you’re not high enough friends to open the door. Unlocking the beach resort on the island also throws a monkey wrench into everybody’s schedule too.

Question: I've been saving various gold star produce throughout my first year, and mostly sold the rest. But then I notice someone says the quality of ingredients has no influence on the quality of food you make. How about kegs and preserves? Should I keep doing this to make artisan products with my best produce or sell them instead for a bigger profit?

Artisan goods come out normal quality no matter what quality ingredients you put in. The only exceptions are large milk and large eggs producing gold quality cheese and mayo respectively.

There are mods to change this.

Ah well, I don't really mind, I guess from the next harvest onwards I will start selling the gold produce for a better cash-in and saving the regular stuff for cooking/gifting/kegging.

It's honestly not that far off from how it's like to live out in the middle of nowhere. When the town population is, at best, in the very low quadruple digits, everyone winds up knowing about everyone. That includes knowing about everyone's dirty laundry. Their lucky purple shorts, if you will. And when you live in a place where not a whole lot happens and opportunities are relatively sparse, people have a lot more time to dirty their laundry and then air it out.

I kinda dig it, to be honest. Stardew Valley is an optimistic game at its core, but it's not afraid to pull back the curtain on the whole "Idealized rural life" concept.

I feel like I have a better opinion of Demetrius over Pierre. Maybe there's some interactions I've missed, but Demetrius feels a little oblivious, and possibly on the spectrum, at least, w/r/t to the "tomatoes are fruit" interaction. He means well but has problems with getting absorbed in his work.

Pierre is probably not a bad person but he does seem like a bit of a petty person. (I'll still let him knock Morris' block off) Also, I'm pretty sure he hosed with my blueberries that he resold. I sold him a bunch and then the next few days I kept having conversations with people where they were saying they got blueberries from Pierre's and they weren't good / something bad happened when they cooked them. (I'm not sure if this is an interaction for selling non-quality? That seems mean!)

I'm surprised this hasn't changed with the updates. Gold/Iridium animal goods still sell for less then the processed goods, but the margins are pretty small. (But that also might be because I have artisan)

If not having a correlating quality, making it so higher quality has a chance to make multiples would be nice. Don't know if I can be bothered to get a mod to change this though.

Demetrius doesn't come across as a bad person per se, but his total lack of giving a poo poo that a person named Sebastian exists is not a good look.

Pierre is a terrible person whose only problem with Morris is seething jealousy: he wants to be Morris.

IIRC the 1.6 patch notes mentioned fixing a bug whereby you'd get the low quality dialogue from townspeople after selling iridium produce to Pierre

Whenever the subject of Pierre comes up, I just think to one of the festivals - I think it's the Spring Dance - where Caroline complains to the farmer that she wishes Pierre would spend more time with his family instead of setting up shop and profiteering. It's pretty sad and betrays a lack of happiness on her part (I haven't yet gotten to know Caroline well enough in my saves to know whether this is a pattern that continues).

Wouldn't surprise me if a mod made her a marriageable candidate.

The running joke is that Abigail is actually the Wizard’s daughter and the future apprentice he’s grooming. Hence why she hangs around his tower and is into adventuring and stuff. Also, her purple hair.

There are indeed multiple mods for marrying Caroline.

I don't think Demetrius *means* to be a bad stepdad to Sebastian. I think he's just awkward and unsure and doesn't realise that people will think you're ignoring them if you don't go out of your way to show you're not.

It's not a running joke, comments from the Wiz and Caroline themselves make perfectly clear that it is canon.

HopperUK posted:

Abigail both asks what colour she should do next (but doesn't follow through) and Caroline wistfully remembers her natural hair colour (a deep brown I think?) in one line. Though I wonder if Caroline dyes or is naturally green. Stardew is weird enough either way.

If you have a limited number of kegs/jars whatever it might be a good idea to prioritize processing the low quality stuff and selling the high, but in general artisan will always come out on top of a gold or iridium star produce.

One exception are ostrich eggs where an gold/iridium egg will create a corresponding quality batch of mayo.

The wiki has charts for gold per day from kegs/jars for all the produce and star qualities. Which as you generally end up with a bottleneck is pretty handy!

Not seen one for Dehydrator or Golden Animal Crackers yet.

From the wiki : " Don't you think Abby would look better with her natural hair color? She used to have light chestnut-colored hair.” "

Doesn't remove the possibility of purple hair only happening once a certain age hits and ties you to Void or whatever of course. Anyone who wants WizardDad fanon, please continue.
