That reminds me of an episode of The Chair or The Chamber or whatever where they started a round with a face-off question of "First name of any of the last five First Ladies" and a player rang in and very confidently said, "BUSH!" The other player took a pause of a few seconds and said, "Barbara." So, naturally, my roomies and I shouted "BUSH!" at each other for several years afterward.

It's such a little thing but if you're, say, $600 in the hole, why on god's green earth would you not go for the $400 or even $2,000 clue? e: No longer a spoiler, so removing the tags. F_Shit_Fitzgerald fucked around with this message at 19:39 on Mar 30, 2024 |

Yeah some really baffling gameplay decisions this week, players going to columns where the DDs can’t be, etc. but good jeopardy. Test is open to everybody today btw

Did anyone do the anytime test yesterday given Jeoparday? I heard a few people complain the questions were harder but I think it was easier than the last few times I tried it. At least there wasn't a question on Silberius this time.

I think they just pull 50 random questions from their database for each test taker now—I felt like it was quite easy, got 48/50

I found it more difficult, just then again, most of my questions were the weak spots (European Leaders, African Geography) and my strengths are pop culture and wordplay and only saw them maybe 12 times out of the 50? My problem was the second I knew it I started typing but the timer ran out so a good chunk of answers are Where the Wild thi

The Chase hasn't been canceled, but also hasn't been renewed, so it's a mystery.

banned from Starbucks posted:Is The Chase over? Is that why all the chasers are coming back to jeopardy? It hasn't been canceled, but also isn't currently in production. That's not why the chasers were on Jeopardy! though - the J! people just thought it'd be fun to bring Victoria and Brandon on as contestants during JIT (pronounced "dʒhit") because they thought they would do well. They were doing JIT because of the writer's strike - they couldn't write new questions, so they had a question bank of already-written questions that they supplemented with old, re-used questions. There was a fairness issue with reusing old questions, the producers didn't want contestants to literally study Jeopardy! to get a leg up, so tournaments instead.

ChatGPT would throw the pace of the game off with its verbose word salad answers
|
# ? Apr 12, 2024 17:06 |

I gave ChatGPT a few categories from yesterday, including wordplay ones, and it did really well. In the Manhattan Project regular Jeopardy! round, it missed the $200 clue but got the rest of the category. The only overly "verbose" answer was "What are the Hudson Yards overlooking the Hudson River?" instead of "What is the Hudson River?" It swept the Colorful Geography and Double Letters in the Middle categories. In the T.P. category, it got everything but the $2000 clue, where it gave me "The Politico" instead of "Talking Points". It correctly answered in the form of a question every time. Pinterest Mom fucked around with this message at 19:03 on Apr 12, 2024 |

Of those, six were triple stumpers in the game. It *got* 2 triple stumpers contestants didn’t. There was only one close call in terms of "do I accept this response", it gave "Whenever, wherever" instead of just "Whenever" for the Shakira question, I chose to accept it.
