Now with less breakage.

TG didn't have too many stairs, but they did have the "wait outside with your PC in the queue for over an hour" experience:

By the time I went it was entirely different from the small demo parties, but it was still fun in its own way:

Mine's the AOpen HQ45 under the desk.

If I remember right, this was at Insomnia in Birmingham, some time back in the early 2000s - and a strip club sent some of their employees in to hand out cards.

I wasn’t at this particular party but something about this picture just gives me pangs of nostalgia, it really captures a vibe I never experienced before or since.

Haha awesome edit! But this was basically how it was when the Cult "babes" walked around promoing stuff. Or AMD's booth babes. Until girls (gasp) finally began joining parties. But then they all (except Revision now?) had just become gaming conventions anyway.

I was actually looking at those on ebay the other day and you can get them for about $100 American.

Weirdly the one I was looking at was also missing its Panasonic badge, those must rip off real easy.

There's just something I love when seeing things that were technically magical to me as the end user when seeing how the sausage is made.

This and similar connections like seeing an analog cup modem connecting to a server in the same room.

It's saddening that due to the move to digital there were probably 5-10x more people working there at a time. Though seeing those people still making rolls and rolls of film to feed :2bong: YOUR HORRIBLE ADDICTION :2bong: is funny and great.

I had some dudes trying to scam me with those lovely speakers in some gas station parking lot in 1999. Luckily I was broke and also already had a decent stereo. That really was the origin of dropshipping.

I see what you mean, but assuming that this is what it says on the box, that was some rather nice kit when new. Those B&W 603 S3 were on my list of used speakers to look for when I was thinking about upgrading.

He must have found one of the last thrift stores that haven't caught on to bump the price of literally everything by 100%+.

The stores finally caught on that people can make lots of money from things in the stores. And not just electronics. Kitchen gadgets, some old/rare DVDs VHS, and unknown brand name clothing that now has a group dedicated just to that brand.

Even the non-chain stores are doing the same thing in rural-as-hell towns.

It's a waste of time going to Goodwill anymore because all the good poo poo ends up on their auction site - https://shopgoodwill.com/home

For a while people were raiding Burlington locations on Tuesday for good poo poo to arbitrage and apparently they got wise to that too

mitsubishi big screens had a 4-up display that would show a main program on one half of the screen, then use the other tuner to flip between 3 other channels every few seconds so you could keep your eye on 4 games at once, with the ability to flip the main program into the pip box that was active at the time.

hah, forgot 10-up mode with 9 mini windows.
