I have no idea why because basically everything you will see published in English is about how the Polish people yearned for freedom under Obviously I agree with his part about Socialism under the English Monarch. In fact, I suppose you could say I'm something of a Stalinist myself.

I've been wanting to post about this, but there was a moment, from the 60's to the late 70's, when it seemed like the UK was going to graciously transition into a Social Democracy, perhaps even a Socialist state, while quitting Empire. The forces of reaction that supported Thatcher had help from the City, though, and the Americans, so there was always going to be a rollback, unless the English people were willing to fight to stop them. For a bunch of reasons I don't quite understand, the British public in the 60's and 70's assumed that things could only get better, and none of what they had could be taken away from them, so there was not much of a fight.

As general prosperity rises people tend to think themselves as part of the petit bourgeoisie. The material reality becomes secondary to cultural grievances. The same thing happened at a massive level when the indian government instituted WPA style public works projects. General prosperity rose enough that the labour market started to shrink in the unskilled department. People used their new money to buy televisions/fridges and thought themselves as successful entrepeneurs because they were selling cucumbers from their plot allotments. They turned on their TV and their parasocial friend in the idiotbox told them that the government was corrupt and modi would be better for business minded folks like them. Now they are fighting each other over spilt grain from ration trucks.

This is pretty much the story of the end of communism in East Germany as well. People thought they were going to get all the luxury poo poo and fifty brands of cereal to choose from they were seeing in the West but would keep all the things they liked about communism. quote:For a bunch of reasons I don't quite understand, for all the noise and bluster about information control and propaganda and the police state in socialist countries, capitalism's great strength as a method of political economy against workers and humanity in general has been the degree to which its competence at systematic deceit and coercion exceeds the ability of people to see through or withstand it
