My mother went as Lara Croft to a fancy dress party when I was growing up, which ensured that I could never sexualize the character. Although, since this was a party at the British Embassy in Riyadh, the most notable event was the ambassador coming as Saint George, prompting Saudi tabloids to froth about how it was evidence that we were planning to infiltrate the country with Christianity.

This thread has been really abandoned of good content for a while now. Not to say that there aren't good posts but it's like there's nothing for months and then there's one good post and it fades away again. I know there's good cosplay stuff but this thread isn't it. I think a lot of this has to do with the majority of cosplay content online being, effectively, instagram model shoots and insta doesn't play nice with sharing their content. But, to be honest, the generally accepted course of action when you notice a content-based repost/aggregation thread is low on content is to either contribute yourself, if you have the means and inclination, or to just leave it be because there's nobody forcing you to post if you don't want to. If you tend to wander around places with a lot of cosplay content and you have the means to share then by all means, help the thread out by contributing if the content quality and quantity of a thread matters at all to you. Blurring the line between cosplay and cosprofessional There's also a whole lot of 501st Legion guys who got to play background Storm Troopers in actual Star Wars TV productions, and some Indiana Jones costume mega-nerds who were mad that the official hat makers that made the original hats changed the source of their hat leather so they did years of experiments to find a more accurate way of making hats for themselves, started a small company making replica Indy hats for fans and ended up supplying the hats for the last few Indiana Jones films Snowglobe of Doom has a new favorite as of 09:02 on Apr 27, 2024 |
