Been trying to do more praxis around fashion and got some great finds today. The first is a shirt was from a vintage retailer my wife knows. He runs a pop up and is trying to get out of nursing and open his own store. That was a find in Japan for him.

The second was at a Salvos and is a Zegna jacket that my wife got mad about because it’s such a good find. I just like it but apparently it’s also a brand.

the boy Hyperion is here

a remold of a prior figure, Vulkan

the big ol' robo mitts on his backpack are highly articulated, as expected

joints are terrifyingly tight but get looser after fiddling with it for a bit. nearly perfect figure, only complaint is the up/down wrist articulation, it's limited by the giant gauntlet guards and the rotating cylinder gimmick right before the wrist. I've been thoroughly impressed by the Astrobots line, except for Athenia, but other than that they've all been magnificent. can't wait to see what else they do.

My Hyperion also arrived and I love it to bits.
The plate that holds the big fingers slips off a little too easy, imo, but it's not a huge issue. I'm astounded at the level of articulation except I can't seem to rotate the smaller hands around the wrists.

The smaller hand wrists are way tighter than vulkan but once you carefully get it going the first time it should be fine after that.

And yeah, they are specifically made for articulation and stability above all else, which is why I don't like athenia.

I got new, old work boots! Old...

NEW old boots!...

I decided to go with a restoration instead of brand new ones because breaking in boots sucks. They did a great job. I'm pretty impressed with the service. Worst thing I can say is that it took a month. Still takes longer than that to settle into brand new ones.

A new Zegna would start at around a thousand bucks (and potentially several multiples of that), so yeah, that's a good find.

Thats a super old Zegna, probably 80s based on that label (and the general construction, guessing it doesn't have any vents right?)

No, no vents. Also one of the front pockets wasn't even unstitched. I wore both of those to a wedding a couple days ago and had a great time.

All y'all sous vide people from the last page, if you ever need to chill drinks really fast just crank the temp way down and throw the drinks and some ice in, it chills them pretty fast.

I also got a neoprene wetsuit-like diaper (for want of a better term) for my cambro with the hinged lid I do the sous vide in, can keep 190º water with only one circulator, and the lid prevents too much evaporation.

None of this matters
I think one trick that my late friend did with sous vide was to float ping pong balls to prevent evaporation (enough to cover the surface).

I bought an original G1 Optimus Prime! he looks great!

haha not really, he's actually Missing Link Optimus Prime, a high-quality recreation of the original Optimus Prime toy complete with die-cast parts, but with actual articulation and engineering!

and leaked photos show that the next Missing Link figures, since this is apparently going to be a series, are G1 Bumblebee and Cliffjumper!

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up soon and this will be one of several things I get her. She loves this sort of mildly-kitsch...uhh.. decoration? Jewelry? Not sure if it's a big brooch or just a general knick-knack, but either way she'll like it.
