munitions (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/66051) at the top of your load order, then scourge (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/60917) towards the bottom, followed by true damage (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/66071) work out really well for a damage overhaul and all are flagged as .esl files. scourge comes with an mcm menu to mess around dr and hp pools for mobs and munitions has a robco patcher that covers pretty much every gun on the nexus. the combo does make a lot of the different receiver mods on guns kinda useless though, unless they change ammo type or fire rate.

I'm sorry if this has been answered, I looked through the last few pages and didn't see anything but I might have missed it. I, like a lot of people I am sure, are coming back to Fallout to do a run through because of the TV Show. I started downloading mods but it quickly got really overwhelming with lots of prerequisites piling up and I was getting worried about compatibility. Are there any maintained modpacks (that you can reccomend) out there that pack a bunch of stuff together that are an easier install and setup than trying to get a mod list together from scratch? I would love to throw more quests into the game, and I hear Sim Settlements 2 is worth playing around with, but I would also like some new armour and equipment if possible too.

Storywealth is a goddamn mess, literally a giant pile of quest mods thrown together without any regards for how well they play with each other. The collection author has made no attempt to resolve any conflicts or patch out any issues or bugs that may result. I'm personally a fan of Magnum Opus. There's a heaping pile of new content, quests, locations, items, etc. and the modlist author has done an incredible amount of work making sure everything plays nicely. The result is a list that is rock-solid stable. I've played the most recent iteration of Magnum Opus for about 80 hours now, and I've had a grand total of 3 crashes.

I installed Magnum Opus and then quickly got rid of when I was getting killed in a couple of hits when I met super mutants for the first time and my weapons did basically no damage to them. It seemed like it had a lot going for it, but I hated the balance.

Just in case anyone was inspired to reinstall and mod this game because of the recent TV show, here's some things i found: 1. I could get Valdacil Item Sorting (VIS) to work outside my pipboy in DEF UI/DEF INV, but couldn't get it to work in the pip boy. It appears its no longer supported. I was able to get VIS-G Item Sorting to work though. Its a spinoff of the original. 2. If you're like me and can't figure out why all plant life is still dead 200 + years after the bombs dropped, I would recommend Boston Natural Surroundings. It adds in grass an trees without being "too much" in my opinion. I just started playing so I hope some of my old favorites still work.

Likely culprit is the last esp in your load order is overriding the leveled lists so those weapons are the ones showing up. Check your load order and see if the last weapon mod on the list is the one thst keeps showing up a disproportionate amount.

Look for weapon mods that use scripted level list injection. Those are much easier to get to play nice since they don't do hard edits to the lists and won't overwrite/be overwritten by other mods.

I reinstalled Fallout 4 and I know that the game is going to update on Steam in like 1-2 weeks. I have not had a lot of time to play but don't want to update. I installed a few mods via Vortex. I tried launching it via the Script Extender button in Vortex but it tries to launch Steam. I tried to launch it via just opening the Script Extender directly without Vortex (f4se_loader) and it tried to launch Steam. I know that Mod Organizer 2 is better but I am lazy and for the minimal amount of mods I wanted to install Vortex got the job done. What do I need to do to ensure Fallout 4 does not update, so I can play with old mods without worrying, when the new update comes out?

The game requires Steam to be open because it has Steam DRM. Launching it through F4SE won’t trigger an update. If you are really concerned look up how to mark the manifest file as read only and Steam won’t even realize there is an update and will never update that game or attempt to. You could also just copy paste the install folder to somewhere else if figuring out the manifest stuff is too hard. Steam won’t care where the game is located on your drive as far as DRM is concerned, but if the files aren’t in the place Steam installed them it won’t be possible for them to be updated. This will have the side effect of when the game update does come out it will download the entire game again and now you will have two copies installed. One the current patch with all your mods and one the new update with no mods. Then you could rip the new creation club DLC being added and add it to your non updated version.

for people who are just getting started with modding or aren't really sure of the basics, there's a guide put out by the people who made viva new vegas called midnight ride ( https://themidnightride.moddinglinked.com/intro.html ). it's not exactly a tutorial, but it'll give you a decent idea of how to properly set up mod organizer, why you're downloading things and how they fit together in both the left and right panes of the program when it comes to overwriting files and load order. it's a great base to build on.
