Don't you tell me my business again.
Speaking of math, Hannity and a few others like to extrapolate the number of people killed in the Hamas Israel attack by saying it would be the % population equivalent of like 40,000 dead Americans. But it got me wondering what 33,000 dead people in Gaza would amount to if they did the same trick. Naturally, none of them have run the numbers that way. Let's just do this USA Math to make an already horrible attack seem even bigger!

The impression I get is that it's the same performative "don't be evil" faux ethics you saw from Google in their early days.

Conservatives are scared that these big investment firms will only support businesses that ensure you eat ze bugs and live in ze pods and have nothing and be happy about it. It's a really simple way for them to explain how the "free market" isn't working-they've been ideologically captured by leftism!

This is also their cope for why video games have gotten so woke-it can't possibly be because people WANT that content, it's only because the only way a studio can get reasonable funding is if they bend over for Big Woke to get those ESG investment dollars.

Their belief that Democrats are in it to control our lives is an interesting one. When I hear that I tend to ask them why they'd want to do that instead of just running away with all the money like they're already actually doing with insider trading and poo poo. Nancy Pelosi using her position to get enough gently caress you money not to care about anyone sounds a hell of a lot more plausible than needing to dominate everyone.

Edit:

quote:

“Today, we had some students and parents choose to exercise their right to assemble, and do a little protest for what they perceived was something that was happening in the school,” Sorensen said. “It actually is not something that’s been occurring.”
“Interestingly enough, they really didn’t address us with anything they wanted changed,” Sorensen said of the protesters.
Insane conservatives started a protest on a problem that's not happening and never will happen but hypothetically could (hi CRT), made no specific demands (a well-known hallmark of good-faith protests) and they're using poo poo they made up as proof poo poo they made up is happening. Lovely.

It's really weird to see furries becoming the focus of right-wing outrage... but, like, the idea of what a furry must be according to very offline reactionaries. Like they hear the idea of people who "identify as animals" and then think "ah, yes, so they must want to poo poo outdoors and eat grass and run around scratching and biting people" and then that's what they're railing against without any actual knowlege of what furries actually are. It's completely unrelated to the online poo poo furries have had to deal with over the past two decades or so. Any talks of fursuits or the intricate gender politics of a deer fursona are just going to get a blank stare, because they assume furries are crawling around and chewing on bones during lunch period.

I understand that it's weird proxy anti-trans poo poo, but, like, furries exist! You can talk to them, they're usually pretty friendly! Why do you feel the need to insist they run around pissing on everything while evil schoolteachers do nothing? That's not a thing!

Trans people exist too, but these assholes won't talk to them either except to spout inane quasi-memes to try to trigger/"own" them or shriek "GROOMER!" when they can't think of anything else insulting to say.

Yeah, I guess since these people's perception of what a trans person is includes zero information actually coming from a trans person, I shouldn't be surprised they have a rather inaccurate impression of what furries do. I'm just more used to the "get away with homophobia by pointing and laughing at the weirdos" type harassment we had in the 00's and 10's. This new angle is definitely trying to get away with transphobia, but people combining it with the Satanic Panic narrative and taking it deadly seriously is throwing me for a loop.
