Show's pretty good but I don't buy Maximus and Lucy as a thing at all, they had their moment and I was just like huh. Also we need more energy weapons in S2.

Vault-Tec, various elements of the government, particularly the intelligence agencies, several other companies, were all so intertwined that they might as well have just been one entity. I have no idea how anyone could dream up such an unrealistic concept, something like that could never happen for real! They built the vaults to be social experiments, and then built a tricked out Oil Rig in the middle of the ocean. It did technically pump petroleum up from the last known deposit in the deep pacific, but it also had everything they'd need, heavy industrial facilities, science labs, etc. The Enclave can trace their roots back, in an unbroken line, to the actual US Government. The Enclave is the direct descendent of the military industrial complex and the US Government. It would honestly be more unrealistic for them to have only one secret base for surviving nuclear armageddon. Realistically there should also be an Alaskan Enclave and and Hawaiian Enclave and Texan Enclave and even a Canadian Enclave, because Fallout US annexed Canada before the nuclear war happened.

There's an Enclave base in Chicago and there's mention of a BOS chapter thst went rogue there as well. Maybe that's where Siggi was coming from.

The plot of Tactics is tricky to fit in, sure but the Enclave base is definitely extant at some point between Fallout 3 and New Vegas because ED-E made a pit stop there on his way from DC to Navarro. The Brotherhood out east also re-absorbed the outcasts from 3 by the time FO4 happens so maybe they've also picked up the Chicago chapter too by the time the show happens. Maybe the Chicago BOS were the ones who tipped everyone off about Siggi fleeing the Enclave.

In Tactics the BoS end up with deathclaws and ghouls and even supermutants in their ranks. I don't see Maxson taking too kindly to any of them.

I haven't seen it brought up but I really liked the BoS cleric, in as much as he was a piece of poo poo. That said, it was neat watching him manipulate? Max into giving up the location of the bubble fusion McGuffin. I'm bad at reading people to begin with, but I think he sounded sincere? Just that the BoS sucks, so obviously them having cold fusion isn't in the long-term benefit of anyone not in the BoS of course.

Show was great. I only ever played Fallout 4 for a bit so I didn’t go into it with nerd lore baggage. Creepy, weird, vault plot twists are kinda interesting. All of the wasteland factions are cool and interesting. TBH who gives a poo poo about the plot as long as Goggins delivers sick one-liners and smokes fools

Back when Black Isle was making their version of Fallout 3 before Interplay imploded, there was stuff that heavily implied that Enclave successful established a stellar base somewhere (probably on the moon or something) before bombs fell and they could return one day. Doubt Beth would ever put Space Enclave in though, and I'm even less confident that could pull off such a concept without being extremely corny and goofy. Grand Fromage posted:Anyway: yay. thebardyspoon posted:I enjoyed most of the individual scenes of this show but the larger plot utterly falls apart if you think about it for a second. So Moldaver is implied to have been in love with Rose, Lucys mom and also wants to finish off her pre war lifes goal of cold fusion, with the latter presumably being more important than honoring the former. I don't think that character was supposed to be good person in a contemporary way. She is just driven. The Vault Dwellers in the tri-vault-area destroyed her home and turned her lover into a shambling zombie. As far as she knows, in episode one theres no idea of who is being paired off with who. She just knows that Hank is the overseer of the Vault, is one of Bud's Buds and therefore has the access codes to unlock clean fusion. As far as she is concerned, Lucy is one of those vault dwellers who are just collateral.

Binged the show, liked it a lot. Never played the games, just listened to lore videos while drawing and crafting so I liked the show capturing the vibe of exploring the Wastelands and finding and getting involved in apocalyptic BS that people have described in the games. I didn't really feel the romance had enough time to build up enough chemistry so that part was my least favorite, everything else was solid 8/10.

I hope Lucy uses her repair skill to get a car running. And Max doesn't like it because he can't sit in it with his power armor unless he sits in the trunk with it open or something. So much mileage they could get out of this.

Wanna also say I appreciate the cinematography and lighting. Such wonderful color in every shot, such deep black shadows. Edit: as things heat up in the climax, warm colors fill the screen. When the climax is over, it gives way to cooler colors. Great stuff Steve Yun fucked around with this message at 06:26 on Apr 19, 2024 |

The production crew really nailed the game's (Fallout 4) aesthetic. I noticed you would see the imprints of individual lumber pieces from the wooden forms they used to pour the concrete for the walls in the Vault, which is also something I noticed in the game. I am curious to see how Fallout 4's aesthetic looks in New Vegas, as they are noticeably different what with being on different console generations.
