Thanks everyone who responded with some clarification about the immunity arguments.funeral home DJ posted:I’ve made it a point to remind anyone bitching about taxes in my general vicinity that taxes weren’t this dire and terrible before 2017. It really is one of the absolutely measurable ways that Trump hosed over working-class Americans for the rich, and yet I still see blue-collar shitheads rolling around with Trump stickers on their trucks. They really do think that because Biden is currently President, that Biden is screwing them over. To them, Biden is a dictator whose policy all goes into effect as soon as he takes office. They don't even understand the concept of legislation. At least the full-blown Trump-sticker-on-BIG-TRUCK types. Way back when the ACA was just being discussed, my sister-in-law launched into a tirade toward my wife and I at a family gathering because she knew we voted for Obama. She was pissed at "Obamacare" because of how much she was paying per month for insurance, and how much it was loving them over in addition to other medical expenses. It never occurred to her that she was paying those same amounts for years before Obama and our attempt to explain to her that the ACA wasn't even in effect yet (and was, in theory, being crafted to address her issues) fell on def ears. Guess who she's voting for in 2024? tek79 fucked around with this message at 15:17 on Apr 25, 2024 |

Hush Money: Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass asked David Pecker how he felt about Michael Cohen saying that Trump would reimburse him for buying Karen McDougal's story. Pecker said that he knew over the years that Cohen couldn't disburse funds from the Trump Corporation. "Every time we even went out for lunch, I always paid," Pecker said. Pecker said that Cohen didn't have authorization "to buy or acquire or spend any money…without Mr. Trump’s approval.”

Probably not, but if Biden were to think Trump is a threat to the democracy as defined by the constitution, I bet he could argue immunity. Trump demanded to stop the legal count of votes and pushed his mob to invade the capitol and stop the certification of the election, so Biden would be required by the presidential oath of office to have Trump wiped off the face of the earth via drone strike. How the gently caress do his attorneys think this is a good idea?

Question for the thread: Is it a coincidence that Trump is mandatorily in court in NY today while SCOTUS is debating the issue so Trump would not be able to intimidate them, or is it intentional? It seems coincidental, but I gotta wonder.
