They released a pve mode and more p2w stuff in a new bundle that is $250. I think that is on top of the $130 for the EoD bundle.

Then they said they heard the community so they are giving EoD buyers 6 months of access to the PvE mode and 6 months of expiediated matchmaking.

The other thing that annoys me is that New Vegas explicitly gives players the option to weave together an endgame path that rejects both the Legion and the NCR - there's no need to go to the mat for the latter unless you're unwilling to do the work.

I unlocked a spell in Arx Fatalis where you summon a demon, but the spell description warns you that demons are unpredictable. I was going through a temple to an old Lovecraftian god and found an ancient sorcerer's chambers, like the guy had been alive for centuries before this world's sun burnt out. I tried looting his treasure chest but this summoned him in lich form, and he was super strong. I had the "summon demon" spell pre-cast so I figured what the hell, fight fire with fire. After a huge full-screen visual effect my spell dissipates to reveal...a chicken. And not, like, Ultra Mega Chicken either, just a regular-rear end chicken. So the lich proceeds to cast a paralytic spell on me and then kills me instantly. Game owns.

see, I just follow the CPSU's take that you have to support the most progressive faction in a lawless area. (NCR has by far the most content too).

not blowing up the Brotherhood Mojave chapter in an NCR path is deliberately one of the most annoying and bullshit quests in the entire game and most of the time the gag with the NCR side quests is that you don't end up accomplishing much of anything.

Content wise the Yes Man and House paths are variants of the NCR path, those definitely could have used the extra 6 months.

Beta version of Orb of Creation seems more slow-paced than stable branch. And surprisingly different. Took me a long time to get out of the Magic tab because I didn't realize you have to specifically upgrade your Output level in this version lol. Got through Psi and Spark discovery and am now on Space.

it's slower early on, but the way the mechanics are set up means you can get multiple hours of progress in 10 seconds if you combine them right. There's also multiple paths to take with the upgrades, so you can actually have some pretty different builds. I quite like it compared to the previous version.

no, what you want to do is get somebody mad enough to give you a red title you're proud of
i bounced off Orb when i got to the point where my progress was bottlenecked by my lack of patience for babysitting four different spellbooks' cooldowns. do any of the upgrade paths let you neglect the spellbook mechanics in favor of just continuous building?

Halser

I'm unsure, but Arcane is a type of spell that is kind of universal, it boosts everything. Probably wouldn't be as efficient as constantly switching, but it would let you focus hard on just one set of spells.

I did this in Stable for a while (by focusing on balancing my plus-minuses on everything and rarely casting an actual spell) but I do not as yet know if beta allows you to do similar

I play with it on and it isn't that big of a hindrance as long as you prep for it. You get like a year's heads up on bandit raids and can set the AI lord to be "reactive" (I.e. will not press claims against you and will fight defensively)

I gotta assume it's intentional based on what you learn about the protag later on in the game. Plus some of his line deliveries are just a Walken impression and the voice acting/direction for just about everyone else in the game is good. They got Stephen Russell to voice some random guy in the tavern so they weren't hurting for talent. Idk if Arx Libertatis makes any big lighting changes other than (maybe) some minor bloom, but I think the lighting and the visuals in general aged really well.

Did a bit of Wasteland today, mostly wandering around New Old Las Vegas.

Our heroes were last seen in Needles, having just returned the One True Bloodstaff (TM) to its rightful (?) owner, and reaped the reward of, among other things, an engine suitable for their broken down jeep. We headed back to the garage, handed over $100 which, even in 1980s dollars (or I guess 2087 dollars) is pretty good for a full engine replacement even if we're providing the parts. And then we're off to Las Vegas in our completely functional jeep...

...which gets stolen the instant we arrive, lol.

Las Vegas is big but it has similar features to the other major Wasteland settlements, such as completely featureless abandoned buildings, a library, a hospital, a lot of random fights, places to shop, and so forth. After poking our head in the library and realizing none of us have enough skill points to pick up the soon-to-be-crucial Energy Weapon skill, we decide to do a bit of sightseeing.

A chat with a fellow who's squatting in an abandoned building educates us on the basic power structure here, two gang bosses called Fat Freddie and Faran Brygo (lmao I never got this when I was a kid), as well as a branch of the Servants of the Mushroom Cloud led by Priestess Charmaine. The man of the hour is Max, who's gone missing.

Oh, and there are killer robots all over the place. (This last bit is not really a state secret as we've already fought three or four groups of them while walking one block).

The killer robots are no joke, compared to the thugs and jerks we've been fighting up to now. We've all got assault rifles now and they're *mostly* effective but these things can take a lot of punishment and really dish it out too, and that's not even counting the more powerful variants.

We do have a nice assortment of rockets (though they're a pain to use) and we're finding more in treasure drops here, but mostly it's just got really grindy. Still, nothing we can't handle. No I haven't fought the Scorpitron yet.

We do pick up our third (and for now last) npc, a prisoner held in Fat Freddy's jail by the name of Covenant. Since there's no place to buy or sell equipment in Vegas somehow, we pop over to the Darwin Village settlement to stock up on supplies.

Though there's a bit of a membership policy issue at the Black Market:

They don't like our answer. Wait, I think I've got it this time

For some reason this makes them angry. Still, they're perfectly happy to sell to us once the guards are dead. So I've now got everyone kitted out with good armor and plenty of ammo, so we head back to Vegas and hit up the casino.

I've got a high luck character with some gambling skills but I still lose a lot. Could grind a bunch to level up her skill but I'm not exactly lacking for funds and there are other ways to powerlevel if I'm so inclined. Besides, I'm here for two things.

1) An intro to the big boss Faran Brygo, which we secure from Crumb, the local manager.

2) A fight with some guards which gets us a laser pistol. When I was a kid, I would often drag the entire casino into the fight and massacre and loot everyone, but that's a lot of effort to go to. Besides, there will be plenty of ridiculous fighting soon.
