Senate and Faculty Council both voted no confidence on the president and chief of staff for calling riot caps when it was literally a few dozen students in one building. Faculty vote was like 182-10. We're frustrated that they've shut down the entire campus because most of the campus was perfectly fine and could've continued operating normally, it's literally just the administrative office building that's shut down, but they've cancelled a ton of events. I help organize a huge research symposium for the students and we're scrambling to figure out how to get it moved off campus and still go off and admin wants us to just shut it down. loving petty idiots. They're sending out poo poo implying the students are being anti-semitic (because of course they are), meanwhile there's absolutely no reports and they literally had a local rabbi come to speak with and encourage the protestors. Word on the street is around 200 riot cops are going in tonight, technically anybody on campus at this point is criminal trespassing, we aren't even allowed to go into our offices without setting up an escort in advance. If they actually go in and gas/beat/arrest those students I would expect an immediate response from staff and faculty.
