Our school had in-house dining for decades, first thing our current President did when he was new was shut down the operation and brought in one of three "school-and-prison" food companies because they bid super low. So we had super cheap food for a year and they got a full contact and jacked up the rates and now no one can afford the food on campus anymore.

UCI camp are calling themselves the UCIntafada which is pretty cool imo The UCI admin agreed to start negotiations today. Seems like the sheriffs were ramping up to crack skulls because Orange County is a fascist paradise but the mayor of Irvine is extremely relatively good on this issue and the UCI administration doesn’t want to play hardball now. titty_baby_ posted:

When I got there people were doing speeches in the main commons area of the university, followed by a really good teach-in that one dickhead cryptofascist tried to monopolize by "just asking questions." The speaker was a fuckin pro at genuinely answering his questions while teaching the audience how to do the same, and not falling into any rhetorical traps that would allow anyone to smear the protest with any of their words. Maybe not the cspam approach, but it's what works best for the venue for sure. After that we marched through campus doing pretty standard protest chants followed by a vigil that I had to skip to get home and feed the kiddo. Only a handful of cops were ever visible and they kept their distance. Hopefully the next one is even bigger.
